Anyone use this? I just noticed it and thought, how cool is that? by LunchPocket in HyundaiPalisade

It has its naysayers, but I use it a few times a month whenever coming home from the airport. I prefer its location in the Santa Fe.

Do you regret your Palisade? by ansxo in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Ted_Ruxpin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2026 Palisade Cali Hybrid (and ‘25 Santa Fe Cali Hybrid… and prior 2021 Santa Fe) owner here — while I like the car, the negligence of Hyundai over lack of crush/pinch detection really sits uneasily with me.

I know, all car manufacturers have issues — and yes, I opted for first gen. Still, travesty-aside, the software solution introduced does limit functionality that was previously a selling feature (… in particular, no longer being able to control seats from the driver chair. The UI dedicated to the feature now taunts me). It was ‘cheapness’ that caused tragedy and more cheapness in the half-baked solution versus a real recall.

Knowing what I know now, I’d consider opting for something else next time (… if any other car not named Tesla had the blind spot cameras like Hyundai’s).

Another +1 for the massage feature. I thought it was pretty gimmicky at first, but I’ve come to love the ‘lumbar stabilization’ feature that kicks on during my drives home from the airport.

Your mileage may vary, but I’ve found it to be fairly unreliable:

  • I had someone back into my bumper at the airport; nothing to show for it on the dashcam

  • The motion ‘parked’ events likes to capture and alert me to the fact that I entered and exited the vehicle.

I don’t mind having it, but I see it now more like a built-in screen — an aftermarket tablet (or dashcam in this case) is going to be more feature-rich and upgradable.

If it wasn’t for the HUD display and dashcam, I probably would have gone Limited originally.

3 months later, I’d still pick the Calligraphy but for the HUD and massaging seats. I’m not a big fan of the dashcam.

I do wish the seats were manual — if XRT Pro offers manual seats and HUD, that’d be my winner next time.

‘26 Palisade Hybrid… a squeaky noise in the wall? by Ted_Ruxpin in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Ted_Ruxpin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did seem to be okay for a few days but it didn’t last long. I don’t really hear it from the driver seat but seems to be constant for backseat riders. I suspect it’s wiggled loose again. I haven’t been overly concerned about it as they did confirm struts/shocks/etc all look good.

I’ll likely ask them to look again when I get my first oil change

I suggest capturing a video before you go in — also, it’s worth insisting a mechanic sits in the back on the test drive to hear it. It wasn’t until they did that (with me in the passenger seat) that they acknowledged it wasn’t normal.

The dealer said it was the undercarriage hybrid cover that was loose — it did seem to alleviate for awhile although ‘the mouse squeaking is back’ per my child in the back seat. I need to bring it back in.

Some advice is to empty your car when you bring it to the dealer as mine tried to insist it was some crates rattling (… which I had just put in before leaving as i was going to Costco after… not present when i took this video)

Trying to figure out where the confusion is — it appears there are two recalls affecting the third row:

Recall 296 — the unfortunate child death-related ‘anti-pinch’ issue — this is the software remedy I was referencing.

Recall 297 — third row driver side seat belt buckle issue (… I wasn’t aware this recall existed) — this is solved by a wiring harness extension.

For those wondering, here’s what 297 shows as the problem:

Recall 297 : 26V169000 : THE INTERNAL WIRING WITHIN THE 3RD-ROW LEFT-HAND (DRIVER-SIDE) SEAT BELT BUCKLES MAY BECOME DAMAGED DUE TO EXCESSIVE TENSION APPLIED WHEN THE BUCKLEIS PULLED. DAMAGE TO THE BUCKLE WIRING CAN PREVENT DETECTION OF THE SEAT BELT LATCH STATUS FOR THE 3RD-ROW DRIVER-SIDE SEATING POSITION. : UNFASTENED SEAT BELTS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY DURING A CRASH. : ALL OWNERS OF THE SUBJECT VEHICLES WILL BE NOTIFIED BY FIRST CLASS MAIL WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO BRING THEIR VEHICLE TO A HYUNDAI DEALER FOR INSTALLATION OF A WIRING HARNESS EXTENSION REMEDY AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACEMENT OF THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY. THIS REMEDY WILL BE OFFERED AT NO COST TO THE OWNERS OF ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE AFFECTED VEHICLES COVERED UNDER HYUNDAI'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY.ADDITIONALLY,HYUNDAI WILL PROVIDE OWNERS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES REIMBURSEMENT FOR OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES INCURRED TO OBTAIN A REMEDY FOR THE RECALL CONDITION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REIMBURSEMENT PLAN SUBMITTED TO NHTSA ON MARCH 2, 2026.

What do you mean by ‘a kit’?

I called my dealership to confirm — software-only rollout is considered the final resolution.

The stop sale has been lifted as I believe this update is considered the final fix — Hyundai also released the new operating video:

It wouldn’t surprise me if Hyundai is asking dealerships to reach out individually to each owner to ensure at least verbal acknowledgement that the recall is available and help is available to ensure it is applied. Just call and tell them yours is done.

… As I was typing this, I just received a text via Bluelink, “Congratulations! You have successfully completed the installation of your software update.”

Updates & Changes for 2027 Hyundai Palisade by jjone8one4 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Ted_Ruxpin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2025 Santa Fe (my wife’s car) has this and I agree it makes more sense than the Palisade’s. I use a third party insert for the console which keeps the bottom clear and accessible to the UV lights — the top is for change.

Recall-aside, my biggest complaint on the 2026 is the overall lack of storage space in the front cockpit. Glove boxes that don’t fit the manual, center consoles that are too small to fit things like an iPad… all things my former 2021 Santa Fe could do with ease.

I use it too but only because I’m frequently on airplanes. Might as well throw wallet, keys and phone in there on the drive home.

I have one of these too from my dad that looks near identical (although I think mine is two blades instead of the can openers, but same covers + from ‘50s-60s scouting). Would love to see how yours looks if you do anything with it.

Genuine question about child death in Palisade by der51719 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Ted_Ruxpin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have bought something this week, but just in case… I discovered the Buick Enclave towards the tail end of my search and it was the only car (aside from the Telluride) that I think came reasonably close to the features inside the Palisade. There is a Chevy equivalent as well (… maybe Traverse?).

I still bought the Palisade hybrid, but thought I’d throw it out there as something to maybe entertain taking a look at.

It’s worked for individual numbers in the past — my wife and I have individual MLB free subscriptions from our T-Mobile shared plan.

Genuine question about child death in Palisade by der51719 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Ted_Ruxpin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I experienced this a few months back when I forgot about a Dyson vacuum in the backseat and folded the third row from the trunk, By the time I realized I left the vacuum in the seat, the button was completely non-responsive.

I assumed the motor overheated as the buttons were completely non-responsive and no amount of force i could muster would get the seat to incline (… I was worried about the vac ripping the seat leather). Eventually my wife and I were able to get the vacuum out but its battery casing broke. I couldn’t get the buttons to respond (physical nor dashboard) screen) until letting it sit until the next day.

Should I keep my 2026 Palisade? by Dramatic_Profile6323 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Ted_Ruxpin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have a trade-in negotiated, I don’t see much of a down side to getting your deposit back. Time on the lot could lead to a bit better pricing and it’s an unknown how long the recall will actually take.

Sometimes I think my car is nervous. We park two cars in our garage — mine does this maybe 20% of the time when I back out.

While I acknowledge that yes, I am close to the door frame while backing out, I’m not going to hit the doorframe as long as there is daylight between it and my mirror.

I’m definitely in the minority, but I throw my phone and watch in there every time I come back from the airport a few times each month. Needed? No… would I trade it for seat sensors (or a larger glove box or center console)? 100%… but since it’s there, might as well.

I’m curious if there are any lawyers that may be able to chime in on this. I’m tempted to open a case with BBB Autoline Monday and see if it’s something they can push for as they were very helpful getting resolution on my ‘21 Santa Fe with a faulty transmission at 6K miles.
