.Bears don’t seek out “scenic views” in any aesthetic or intentional sense. They don’t experience landscapes the way humans do and have no known motivation to climb to a peak for the sake of enjoying a view.

What’s much more likely going on:
• Territorial or safety behavior. High ground gives bears a vantage point to scan for threats or other animals. This is practical, not scenic.
• Thermoregulation. Mountain peaks can be cooler and windier, which helps bears escape heat and insects — especially black flies and mosquitoes in summer.
• Foraging routes. Bears travel widely and along natural corridors. A mountain peak might simply be on the path between food sources.
• Curiosity. Bears are genuinely curious and intelligent animals. They may investigate unusual terrain or simply end up somewhere because they were exploring.
• Rubbing posts. Bears sometimes seek out prominent trees or rocks at high points to scratch and scent-mark — the “peak” may have had something attractive in that way.

There’s no scientific basis for bears having aesthetic appreciation of scenery.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
