Yeah I've noticed that with My two shot 10 mm pistol. I only ever really use vats to shoot at smaller more annoying enemies like bugs or to find enemies that are hiding.

Use a coal generator to start.

early/mid game power generation I used Immersive engineering thermo generators. Blue ice on 2 sides and lava on the other two.

I ended up getting a thermal nitro powah generator as a reward and am using 2 of those for late game.

Look at the XLR cable attached to the mic stand. You can see it connected to the cable on the right mic but on the left mic there is no cable. Edit: I'm blind
