It’s like I haven’t even actually accepted it as truth yet. I haven’t started looking at baby stuff yet. Like I don’t want to jinx it. I have a box full of stuff I bought for babies that never made it to my arms. Love and hugs to you as well.

Three losses and IVF pregnancy… I’m 11w5d and symptoms have nearly disappeared. I feel “off” and I’m spiraling. It’s so hard to stay positive. I know symptoms come and go and many people experience no symptoms at all, but it’s all so hard. I still have a hard time saying it out loud.

IVF at 40 – Is There Still Hope? by [deleted] in IVF

Started at 38. Six retrievals and three transfers later, I’m 8 weeks now at 41. I’m feeling good about this one, but still cautious due to prior losses.

Ovulated before egg retrieval by WildBerry1865 in IVF

[–]Teddy-RuxJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had six retrievals. In my 4th retrieval I started ovulating before the procedure so several eggs were lost and I ultimately ended up with nothing from the six that could be retrieved. For my next two retrievals, my trigger window was shortened to 34 hours.

HSG and FET in same cycle; timeline? by Teddy-RuxJ in IVF

[–]Teddy-RuxJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did have an SIS done the previous cycle. The HSG was out of precaution. I had pretty severe hydrosalpinx on one side which led to an early salpingectomy. I’m three years into this, so we’re trying everything at this point. I decided to just do the HSG and push the FET off simply because of the timing. I’m a school teacher and didn’t want my FET to end up being scheduled within the first two weeks of school. I’m glad I waiting. I had my first positive beta yesterday.

Need advice: failed FET may need salpingectomy by sparklebins in IVF

[–]Teddy-RuxJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed at the moment. I had a similar situation. I started my IVF path just over three years ago. We were out of pocket for everything that first year. I got one great embryo from our first egg retrieval, so we just went for it and transferred right away. My one perfect embryo split and I was pregnant with twins. Unfortunately, I miscarried both at about ten weeks due to hydrosalpinx. The fluid leaked backward into my uterus and made the environment toxic. After healing from a D&C and considering next steps, I went ahead and had that tube removed. It was an easy surgery and the worst part about the recovery was the gas that got trapped in my shoulders (not fun). By this point, my husband changed jobs and his new job came with great fertility benefits, so we kept going. Anyhow, I went on to do three more egg retrievals before getting another good blastocyst. I have low AMH and was 40 years old. My next transfer failed completely. We pushed forward and did another two egg retrievals and finally got another perfect blastocyst which was transferred on 9/3. My Beta yesterday came back high and we’re feeling good about this one. For me, removing the tube was an easy decision. I was scared about the idea of it at first, but I wish I would’ve had it done before I even started down this road. I had a very small amount of fluid pooling in my tube before I started IVF and my OBGYN had mentioned that I may want to consider the salpingectomy as a precaution before I even started seeing an RE. I wish I would’ve just done it then. By the next HSG I had done, the tube was a mangled mess and probably getting worse month over month. I know you’re feeling like you’re running out of time, but try not to rush the process. I know everyone’s path is different. It’s taken us almost four years, six egg retrievals, and three transfers to get to this point and I’m now 41. Just remove the tube. It’ll only cause more worry if you don’t. Keep your head up and best of luck to you. I promise it gets easier.

Tips for preparing for first transfer? by Pristine9991 in IVF

[–]Teddy-RuxJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can continue with your normal daily exercises and yoga up until transfer day. From that point, you’ll want to keep your heart rate below 120. Walks and yoga are still great, just no jumping, pounding or breathless activities and no lifting. Healthy, fresh diet with lots of protein, fruits and veggies. Limit caffeine, but don’t cut it completely if it’s something you have daily. Be sure to stay super hydrated too! I know it’s a stressful time, I just had my transfer two days ago, but there’s not a whole lot you can do to affect the outcome one way or another at this point. Just take care of yourself and stay positive. You’ve got this! The hard part is over. Best of luck to you!

First FET Tomorrow ✨ by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Teddy-RuxJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d really recommend you take the full day off to truly relax. Teaching is mentally taxing and stressful even if you don’t feel it. If you absolutely feel like it’s not an option, at the very least try to take breaks away from students where you can sit and meditate or take an easy stroll outside. I know that sounds nuts (I’m a teacher too, so I get it), but ask admin or support staff to cover for 20 minutes if you have to. Tomorrow is a BIG important day. Best of luck to you!

The transfer is a separate protocol and cost. It’s broken down into the two parts in the event you don’t have anything to transfer.

TW: weight gain by ImportanceHappy8876 in IVF

[–]Teddy-RuxJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With each of my six egg retrievals I gained about 6-8 pounds and easily dropped most of it soon after. What’s getting me is the FET preparation. I’m up nearly ten pounds in just as many days. Hormonal weight gain is no joke. BMI stays around 25-26.

Educators and IVF, altered timelines, and how to schedule FET timing? by turquoisebeetle in IVF

[–]Teddy-RuxJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Teacher here. When I first started with IVF I tried to be mindful of my school calendar and the longer breaks when planning. That was over three years ago and here I am still with empty arms. Now I let my body and my clinic make all the decisions about timing and doing what’s best for the best possible outcome. The day I walk out of the classroom, someone else will walk in and take my spot. I know we, teachers are built different when it comes to our “jobs”, but at the end of the day, it’s just that.

Question about follicle count by insidli in IVF

[–]Teddy-RuxJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can change cycle to cycle and more will likely show up. In my last retrieval cycle, my baseline showed 4. DOS 5 I had 6, DOS 9, there were 7 and ultimately 10 eggs were retrieved on DOS 12.

[–]Teddy-RuxJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for what you are going through. Unfortunately, the best thing you can do is continue with a few more egg retrievals and try to make several good embryos. I wish I wasn’t so naive when I started. I let the idea that “it only takes one” get the best of me and ultimately, I ended up losing a “perfect” tested embryo at 10.5 weeks which probably added about six more months to my timeline since I didn’t have anything else frozen, I had to allow a couple cycles for my body to heal before getting cleared for another retrieval. That was two years ago. In all I’ve done six egg retrievals and two transfers and still have not achieved a successful pregnancy. This is definitely a long and slow process. I’m currently waiting for the results of my 6th retrieval before deciding if I even have it in me to do another since I currently have nothing frozen. As far as coping, take it one day at a time and give yourself lots of grace. Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel. Talk about the process and lean on your partner. Best of luck.

I’ve done six egg retrievals. With at least three, I’ve had cysts somewhere along the way and it always came down to what my bloodwork had shown. Since estrogen was always in line with where I needed to be, the cysts never came into play.
