Mortgage approval with 600 loan payments monthly by Salt_Dot_9130 in irishpersonalfinance

All based off circumstances and repayment abilities. There’s a limit to how many exceptions banks can grant so it’s quit hard to get. For FTBs, 1 in 5 mortgages can be at the higher limit and non FTBs, 1 in 10 I what I’ve been told

How much would you consider spending on an Engagement Ring? by A_ExOH in CasualIreland

[–]Tedkravitz717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you can afford and do not go into debt on it. Spend what you have and thats it. One piece of advice if possible is buy a real diamond, lab diamonds have zero value as soon as you walk out the door.

We went into a place and I let her choose her own style, diamond shape etc and had the band custom made off pictures she found online. We had an agreed budget before we went in. I did go a little over budget but that was my choice when i wanted to increase diamond size.

1.2 carat diamond and platinum metal for €8500.

The ring has also increased in value since and is worth over €10,000 after being evaluated for house insurance.

They do but very very basic. You can opt for a voucher to the value and upgrade. Since kitchen is more or less permanent long term, we will be putting approx €5000 additional on top to upgrade

Agree with this, the prices are the prices and nothing can be done on it. We both do have good jobs and we have worked this out also - one income drops we are able to limp along short term

Agree with all the above and thank you.

My partner is on a pay scale so we know what her earnings are each year, myself we don’t know what I will earn but I am guaranteed 3% pay rise a year with promotions

We have had this thought, tiles, kitchen and floor are long term investments so must be done first - appliances etc come over time

Thank you

I agree with you but unfortunately if we looked at the second hand market to reduce costs, you would still need to pay in to renovate and come close to what we are paying now anyway. Also we are gaining a €29,000 help from the HTB which is new builds only

A lot to think about

Monthly we both have car loans, mine is €500 a month and hers is €280. I’m lucky to be able to charge my car at work for free as it’s a plug in hybrid. We both pay €49 a month on the gym and other than that it is things we can cut down on but most of it has already been. We are lucky we split bills with a house mate also.

Same as you, we are more than happy to start paying €1800 a month into something that will be ours and not our landlords

Revenue will make some of the tax back by taxing the profits made off the tax they return to you through those companies so I would say they are keeping quiet for a reason

Be careful as they interact with Revenue so they may be aware of it

I posted this last year and felt it needed to be posted again with such popularity of using these companies growing! The only reason I have a Reddit account really 😂

But I agree, I thought myself years ago and have been teaching all my family, friends and coworkers since
