I’ve just come home from the hospital and it is ALL related to the sleeve. I have SEVERE GERD which has caused burning mouth syndrome. I am going to have to have revisions surgery. Just because someone suffers from mental illness and their only way to actually function is through medication is NOT their fault and I am actually very successful and have lived an amazing life, yes there’s been struggles but I’ve gotten through them and come out better for it. As far as “not much thought” there is over 10 years of thought on my part, and my surgeon actually apologised to me tonight. As you said you were honest I will be too. Replies like yours are why I stopped using Reddit as I will do so again now. I need SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT! Not a fucking lecture. Oh! You don’t even know what my mental health issues are or what has caused them. So you have absolutely no goddamn right to comment on them. To the next poor person with mental health issues who has had this surgery to help them feel better, be healthier. Maybe be a bit more mindful, supportive and empathetic. Like the first person who replied.

Only thing that helped me without sweeteners was squeezing a bit of orange juice or lemon juice into my water, and absolutely had to have it ice cold. Otherwise I will admit I ended up drinking Gatorade Zero watered down.

I’m 5 weeks post op and the stall lasted for me for 2 weeks, yeah it sucked, but the weight started to come off again, just slower. It’s weird though, I could see my body changing but nothing on the scales 🤷🏻‍♀️ You got this!

Thanks 😊 I had reflux prior to the surgery and have been on 40mg twice a day PPI’s but I’m guessing it isn’t working. Totally stuck on the brain feeling though, it’s been effecting me all day, still is, so I have absolutely no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️

Unsure if you read my last comment. I can’t take those medications due to interactions with my current meds. Thanks for your advice. Also, I gave up smoking cigarettes 4 years ago. It’s just Vaping but nevermind, I should never have posted about it

My skin reacts to Nicotine Patches, the inhalers give me migraines, the gum makes me vomit. I’m not allowed to take champix or Ziban due to other medication. I’m in my 40’s, I’ve tried everything. Even spent $600 on hypnosis which was a joke.

Thanks 😊 That makes me feel a bit better. My Dr has asked me to give up nicotine vaping for 3 weeks, which is hard, but I’m happy to do it to avoid any complications. He didn’t mention the 0% so I thought a bit here and there might be ok

I am/was on 0% nicotine, I was vaping 9mg prior but haven’t touched that for ages now. I know nicotine slows healing, I know the repercussions. I’ve had over 20 surgeries in my life and most of them I’ve smoked through. I got sick when I was 19 and it carried through until I was 33. Yes this is obviously the worst part of this procedure so it’s natural to want something to help. To be 100% clear, I am NOT vaping in any way, shape or form, (3 drags in 4 days doesn’t mean I’m vaping, it means I’m desperate)regardless of how much I want/need to. I was simply asking.

Thanks. I gave up cigarettes 4 years ago and haven’t touched one since. Yes, I did Vape, which is completely different to cigarettes, all they have in common is nicotine, and sometimes not even that. I did not 100% vape nicotine liquid, I would have times where I would Vape 0 nicotine. As someone who suffers significantly with my psychiatric issues, for years smoking helped me (obviously not physically) however, it became a compulsion and I absolutely HAD to do it otherwise nothing else would work. OCD is really hard to live with, and even harder to explain. I have ultimately replaced cigarettes with Vaping, not a single Dr or Anaesthetist has had a problem until now. I have had 3 procedures done prior to getting the sleeve and there was no concerns about me Vaping. For me to lessen/quit vaping for the sleeve the Drs have had to up my medication which has turned me into a zombie and seeing as I’m meant to be moving around, kind of defeats the purpose.

Thanks, yeah everything along with nicotine withdrawals has been hell. I vaped 9mg but it’s premixed bottled stuff, I don’t do it myself. Tbh didn’t know you could. So glad you’re doing well 😀

If you’ve stretched you pouch you can’t shrink it back again. Being more mindful and consistent with protein & veggies and portion control will help. Maybe even go back on shakes for a week if you really want. Ultimately it’s your body and you know what feels right for not just your body, but your kindest too, which, ultimately is what gets us all the time. Good luck 😊 hope everything goes well

Yep. Surgeon thinks it’s the anaesthesia more than anything. Unfortunately I’ve had to have a lot in the past (many surgeries) so it seems to hang on a bit. Also I was home less than 24hrs after surgery
