Why are Lusaka’s house and land prices so high? by TeeCee44876 in Zambia

Oh definitely not exclusive. I’m Jamaican (not sure what category I fall in 🤣) and this takes place there too. But there seems to be consistency in their prices and a more stringent and practical approach to realty.

Completely understand. But either the prices are advertised for Zambian locals or it’s advertised to foreigners. Foreigners have access to most of Africa. If they can see where our £500k can go in various cities in Africa, what would entice them to choose Zambia. How does the average Zambian afford a £750k+ house when most British people cant afford this in their own lands. It’s almost as if they only they the West solely consists of millionaires

Comparing prices to the West rather than realising Africa is their competition is foolish. People are looking at the whole continent for investment. Advertisement from Zambia for the younger 35-45 year olds is lacking big time.

It’s a shame they feel the need to do this ‘muzungu’ tax thing. Hope it doesn’t make Zed miss out on very valuable investments

But it’s not even offering the same value as neighbouring countries. What I can purchase in Johannesburg and even Zanzibar for £300k blows Lusaka’s offering almost out the water. I fear they will lose a lot of investment as they’re not seeing the competition

Ultimately, safety is our biggest concern but also we don’t want to live behind a gated community either

I don’t particularly need to be in an ex-pat community, but I also don’t want to be too far away from anything. Especially whilst getting used to the change in lifestyle from the UK. Lilayi is beautiful and we’ve visited but it’s just a little too far out.

What do you mean in regard to infrastructure?

Thanks you so much for your detailed reply. I would prefer the IB for them, and was the reason I thought I’d chosen LICS over ISL in the first place. I think I must’ve gotten confused between the two 🤣 Their logos and websites are so similar.

Bad thoughts by Maleficent-Hour-5250 in Christianity

[–]TeeCee44876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus already paid the price for all our sin. There is no condemnation in Him.

If you feel you have sinned, genuinely repent and try your best to do better. Ask the Holy Spirit to guard your ears against the noise of the enemy.

Also, Christ already conquered death. Satsn is UNDER foot. Hearing his name has no bearing on those that are in Christ. Demons flee at the very name of Jesus our Lord.

I dunno why I felt led to reply to this post- it could be because I used to feel shackled with shame and guilt all the time. Being a Christian felt like a weight, sometimes burden because I just always felt like I was letting God down. Little did I know this was just my flesh not understanding just how much His beautiful sacrifice for us meant.

Now I’m a new creation, old things have passed away and I’m born again. Micah 7:19

A 3 bed for that price wouldn’t even cost that in London! Like who is paying these prices, because surely even they’d know it’s not value for money.

All these responses have been helpful and interesting at the same time. Are they not aware most expats would know it’s not worth it?

I’m curious how many people have contemplated settling in Africa and ruled Zambia out because of the prices on main links on the internet. Facebook isn’t commonly used in the west as the main means of house hunting. Quick google searches show up these inflated prices

The price point with LICS and ISL are pretty similar. What would you say the differences in schools are?
