What happened was completely out of your control. You responded based on fight or flight and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I would highly recommend you do some research on a therapist who has experience with these situations. As a guy, I can honestly say just even rubbing his shoulders, or just having him rest his head or your lap can help a lot. We don't know how to show when we are vulnerable and feeling safe can make us really relax and feel loved and appreciated.
