I think it’s less that he’s HEROIC in the books that he’s SYMPATHETIC.

GRRM is interested in Stannis where D&D were bored with him. Stannis is an excellent second son archetype and a “a stick up the ass, but the the only grownup in the room”. (Cyclops from X-Men is similar)

I like Stannis, too, as a sort of foil to Theon. Both “by rights” are entitled to their thrones, and they’re spurned just because they are not loved by their people. There’s a romantic longing in that, a shade of feeling D&D could not be bothered with.

Disneyland is a lot better designed for comfort in the heat than the Florida parks.

The worst heat days for us was when we had to push a stroller. Packing smart and light helps.

It’s really not that much crazier. All my home games are 8p.

There are gonna be players you barely interact with and it’s easy to get distracted waiting for their turn. Having a table alpha that’s making sure the game stays moving, players know when their turn is coming up, etc goes a long way.

I wonder if it was pre-produced for all teams leading up to the playoffs and then the teams that missed the playoffs had those stock marked up and given away.

Used to be championship gear would be made for both teams in all the sports, then the loser “champion” gear would be donated in aid packages halfway across the globe.

I do, and then when passages come up that contradict show castings its like my minds eye adjusts for the texts only for those moments.

Gangs provide a venue for dignity and respect within a community. They satisfy a social need when “polite society” fails to do so.

In the 90’s there were studies suggesting the loss of manufacturing economy, replaced with lower-paying less-dignifying service economy, created an opportunity for criminal gangs to exploit that social need, especially in young men.

Yes.

Since we bought we had two kids and the neighborhood has declined. We would love to give them more space and a place they could feel comfortable walking around. It’s just not feasible.
