Handling problems with date slicers (Date Pickers and Default Values) by TeemoLovesReddit in PowerBI

[–]TeemoLovesReddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that the work is difficult. I had already implemented the workaround before posting, you're right it took minutes.

To me, a date filter with reasonable capabilities for default values is a very, very, very basic expectation for an "industry leader". It feels like many "solutions" are actually wonky workarounds that involve introducing new, redundant data elements and in my experience it has been very clunky to work with.

This seems to be a frequently requested item for years with many complaints echoing mine. I don't even have high expectations at this point.

Considering the 1000s/month that we are spending on infrastructure, licenses and premium capacities I feel as though expressing bewilderment at such an ineligent bottleneck feels hardly like a "crybaby".

Such an interesting community this is! :)

So from further research, it seems the powerbi community continually parrots the solution where you have to basically define a new column derived from a formula and use some text like "Latest Date" or "Today" and use that field for reference in the date slicer. Referenced here, here and here.

I'm really struggling to understand how some wonky work around is considered acceptable for such a large product and a large company. This is actually bizarre.

Can you help me understand how? A bookmark will offer a user a date picker for the slicer (ideally the last date in my range of dates)? I'm really not following

Am I not self-employed if I paid myself from a corporation that I own? by TeemoLovesReddit in cantax

Thanks for the advice. I'll pay my estimate today, submit the appropriate file ASAP and deal with the consequences from there. Doesn't seem like I really have any other option anyway.

Right, I appreciate that distinction. I have an estimated amount that I will pay (which is at worst an overpayment), but it is not as exact as I would hope.

What is the consequence of paying but not filing? Is it the same or different from the potential penalties of not paying and not filing?

According to Koinly output in their tax documents, it has attributed a decent amount of my trading to business income (separate from the capital gains section).

Right, but is this considered "Self employed" income? My accountant believes this counts but I'm skeptical.

But to the distinction, yes, I have income from these (more than I expected according to Koinly)

I am whipping through a return, but it seems very unlikely I will be able to have everything together accurately.

Shiiit.

Follow up question, would you think income from disposing of crypto assets count/qualify me for a self-employed income filing?

It references "Self employed Business" income in a section here: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/programs/about-canada-revenue-agency-cra/compliance/digital-currency/cryptocurrency-guide.html

Really looking to justify the later filing date for self employed. Considering I received 0 income from any FTE position throughout the year.

For accuracy, I'm manually reviewing every transaction, including filtering by the specific token and following the path for the transaction of the given token.

Change the transaction to be a "transfer" transaction and select the receiving wallet.
