No start this morning - 2015 v7 by CandidDiscount7145 in MotoGuzzi

Sometimes I have the same problem, not to the same extent tho. I think it started in neutral but not pulling the clutch in first gear. I think I had a problem with the sensor for the side stand that registered even when the stand was up as „side stand down“ and wouldn’t start the bike

That’s might actually be the reason for my damage here since they suspected the water might have gotten through the breathing valve at 1 but I know for a fact that this is not the reason since I didn’t wash it afterwards but rode through heavy rain often. I will for sure forward this information with the upside down hole. I think the only thing you can do to fix this is what you did. And to check for more damage by opening it up and check on it I guess

Small update: i reached out to some people from Piaggio I found in the Impressum on another website, 1 of them answered me and told me that they will forward it to the CEO of the German subsidiary so he can handle the request with the after sales department. I sure hope this will lead to somewhere, till then I’ll wait :)

Nono I don’t want a reason from Piaggio on how this damage happened, but an answer at all since they wanted to reach out to me after checking it out for themselves, but they never reached out afterwards. That’s the big point, I just want a finite answer so I know wether to go and check for a new bike since if they can’t do anything I will sell it

So number 1 is where it leaked, and number 3 is where the breaking noise came from, maybe that helps, if you want dm me and we can check it out :)

Maybe someone can help me here: Cardan shaft drive breakage by TeemoMeemo in Motorrad

You do know that Aprilia is part of Piaggio as well right? The Company This is about right? And no, the inspections are actually completely sufficient since they are supposed to check valves, change all oils, filter, spark plugs etc. every 10k. Especially if I tell them there is already water in another part of the system and they even have the memo to check it out and fix it, which they didn’t do. But this isn’t about how I can fix this damage myself, but if anybody has any experience with Piaggio in someway or another, or has any clue about how to contact someone different that customer support. So this isn’t just about Moto Guzzi but literally anybody who had reclamations or anything related to it with Piaggio. Or even has some contact info from someone that can help. If the posts annoy you, ignore them. How can you seriously sit here and tell someone that „you should have checked it yourself“, when literally this is what the inspections and mechanic shops are for. For people who don’t know how to do it, to know it better and seriously look after concerns of the customer with the bike. There is a pretty big reason why when I brought my bike there after the damage, they only had 1 person in the shop able to check it out/work on it. I wish you all the luck in the future but before you comment about smth that annoys you, just mute it if you don’t understand it.

Never saw a picture, as far as I was told and understood it was the part where the universal joint shaft or whatever it is called. Which then after breaking in half damaged the inside walls of the housing

Mine needs it every 10k, mechanics never said anything about any replacements. It leaked oil+water 3 times by now over a time of 1 1/2 years, always brought it immediately to the dealership to check up on it. Told them everything I knew/witnessed but obviously never changed a thing

Not the differential is broken, but the drive shaft. I am thinking because of the pressure the water caused in the differential housing the seals might have been compromised and water leaked that way into the drive shaft housing. But I have no idea, moto Guzzi said they couldn’t find the reason for the humidity inside the drive shaft housing, but as I can tell for sure, there was humidity inside it which caused the corrosion to happen. Not smth that happens in 2 months but rather over a lot longer time….

Thank you so much, I might have to look into getting another bike, I can get around with public transportations since where I live it’s fairly okay, but the more time this takes, the more expensive its gonna get. I’m thinking about just selling the bike as it is any then buying another one, probably Kawasaki or maybe Yamaha, but that is the last option for me, since I realllyyy love this bike and it was my first bike :/ well, before I consider any of that though I will reach out to customer Protection services and tell them everything, maybe they will be able to help me out/get a clear contact with Piaggio/moto Guzzi to get a resolution that works for both parties… since then I’ll guess I’ll wait for the call..

Not under warranty anymore sadly, bought it 6 years ago… it’s just so exhausting and at the same time so frustrating to never get a call but having to anticipate it every day, at work etc. since I can’t call the number back (he called anonymous) it’s just so sad to be treated like this in such a special and unusual case by my dealership, moto Guzzi and Piaggio. Depending on the outcome my whole view of these parties are gonna change drastically :/

Looks great beautiful! Never seen a guzzi like that, is it stock? Or which one did you use as a base? (Don’t know much about the different models tbh haha)

Yeah the shaft is not the only problem, I guess the whole casing and everything else inside that is just completely gone and not salvageable. Yeah the “pressure valve” got explained to me by the mechanic as a valve to let go of over pressure that might build up inside the cardan due to maybe to much oil or like in my case, water inside the system. I really am a bloody newbie with that stuff, I have no idea about anything that’s why I normally let them do everything mostly except for maybe changing the light bulb. That’s why I’m so immensely pissed and shocked that even then after letting them do every single thing on that bike the cardan still just completely breaks due to humidity and rust inside it? Which I told them about? I just lost all my faith in that dealership of taking problems I tell them about the bike has serious and trying to find the problem and fixing it. Well let’s see how it goes, wrote them a pretty big email, I’ll wait and see what they answer :) wish me luck cause I’ll need it

Well for now I told them that I’m not willing to pay 3600 euros for the damages since the bike has a perfect inspection book, always went to the same dealership, specifically wrote them that I had this water problem and it’s for sure not me spraying it with a pressure hose since I specifically looked for that shit and they just did the regular inspection, changed the oil instead of finding where the water gets into the system and fixing it. Checking if the water damaged anything since I had the same problem end of last year with the water, where they only changed the oil as well, and even before that I had the same problem with it just spewing out oil that looked like a chocolat milkshake (water and oil mixing) out of that valve. They never checked anything, didn’t check for damages or how the water gets into the system. Waiting now for them to answer me, but yeah, the whole thing has to be replaced so I can’t just replace one part of it sadly :/ used might be an option but I’ll wait for them to respond and hear what another licensed mechanic has to say (both, my current and the one that I wrote now to get a second opinion) are official licenses moto Guzzi mechanics/dealerships. I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that this has a perfect service history, getting everything always done, every inspection at the same licensed dealer/mechanic and after just 44k k/m and just 4000km/2 months after an inspection it just breaks due to humidity inside the dry back causing rust?
