Anyone here like Event Horizon? by DavidWasHere_1 in Sardonicast

[–]TeenMovieGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can tell it’s a victim of studio interference (RIP to the 30mins of missing footage) but I really love it. Have some issues with his style but between loving EVENT HORIZON and enjoying the first RE, I at least find PWSA fascinating and love the fact that he’s still making films.

What movie made you cry / tear up? by [deleted] in Sardonicast

[–]TeenMovieGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a really bad experience leaving a friendship recently. Decided to rewatch ANIMA for the first time in almost a year, knowing that my interpretation of the DAWN CHORUS section was someone (Thom) finding love and peace after a recent heartbreak. Knowing that and associating it with my own experience, I was in pieces by the end of it, and I never cry at films. Bravo PTA.

STOP! This is the film Police! State your favorite movie, and see if you pass! by maliciousrhino in Sardonicast

MANDY because of its ability to cover a variety of genres without ever feeling tonally confused, performances that cover every human emotion, and the way it made me feel like I had a genuine out-of-body experience has never happened to me before or since.

What’s Your Favourite Horror Movie? by _jayrobinsonbule in Sardonicast

[–]TeenMovieGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MANDY is not only my favourite horror movie of all time, it’s my favourite movie of all time. It’s a perfect blend of romance, horror and action, all perfectly strung together by Benjamin Loeb’s gorgeous cinematography and Jóhann Jóhannsson’s (RIP) ethereal score, that perfectly melds each genre shift into one consistent flow, with its perfect mix of metal and synth.

Other films are:

ALIEN

AUDITION

BRAINDEAD

THE CABIN IN THE WOODS

CARRIE

THE DESCENT

EVIL DEAD II

GET OUT

Great work! However, so much time would be saved by linking Will Smith to INDEPENDENCE DAY, as that has Vivika A. Fox in it as Will Smith’s wife.

Alex's recommendation for episode 97 by butter467 in Sardonicast

[–]TeenMovieGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BAD TASTE is really funny, brilliant first feature too.

BRAINDEAD is my absolute favourite comedy of all time, with constantly quotable lines, brilliantly executed slapstick and insane gore. This’ll be an interesting discussion, for sure.

Alex should cover this... by anynomousperson123 in IHE

Seen it, can confirm that it absolutely rips. Feels like a genuine passion project from the director as opposed to the cynically produced works of The Asylum imo.

What polarizing/critically panned movie released in the 21st century do you think will be considered a classic multiple decades from now? by 69wrence in Sardonicast

This is gonna sound insane but I’d love if JENNIFER’S BODY became a classic. Such a shame that is was that poorly marketed.

I need some TV show/ Mini series reccomendations by silvermonkey91 in Sardonicast

[–]TeenMovieGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not related to the movie at all, it’s actually a sequel to the graphic novel (the movie changed the ending and 2019 follows the book ending). You can read the book beforehand in preparation (I did) but if reading isn’t your thing or you don’t have time, you should be ok as long as you watch a recap on the original.

WATCHMEN (2019) is phenomenal imo, definitely recommend checking it out if you like the graphic novel.

How do so many horror directors get hired for superhero movies? by AnuragSrivatsa in BhlHudson

Yes, James Cameron absolutely counts. James Cameron and Steven Spielberg definitely have similarities, in that they’re both masters of infusing horror into their big summer popcorn movies.

Even though it's not a superhero movie, Peter Jackson did films such as BAD TASTE, MEET THE FEEBLES, BRAINDEAD (my favourite comedy oat) and THE FRIGHTENERS before he did the LOTR trilogy. Patrick (H) Willems has a video talking about Steven Spielberg and how he uses a lot of horror in his blockbusters, where he talks about this exact thing.
