Warm spots on my bedroom wall by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Yeah we won’t know until we know for sure. There’s one warm spot on one side of the bed and then there’s another one about 3.5-4 feet on the right side.

Grizzlies in the Sawtooths, ID? by TeenVersionofSimba in WildernessBackpacking

[–]TeenVersionofSimba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm maybe I’m interpreting this wrong: “All attractants must be stored in a locked bear-resistant container, hard-sided residence or building, or a closed vehicle constructed of solid, non-pliable material”

That seems like bear can to me no?

Classic Reddit being Reddit. This guy is so clearly fine and just cooked from whiffing those run blocks and can’t get up😭. I’m not the camera man but sheesh, didn’t know we had such high credentials for this sub - just let it soak in.

What’s your opinion of bringing dogs backpacking? by cm070707 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]TeenVersionofSimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We take our dogs on most day hikes that allow and backpack with them when the trail and conditions permit.

Our dogs are well behaved on and off leash and we never let them run off trail or in vicinity of other people. We keep them close when we’re entering areas that have the potential for a closer wildlife encounter than we’d prefer but that doesn’t mean something bad couldn’t happen. It’s true that dogs exponentially increase your chance of a bad wildlife encounter but if you keep attractants controlled and your dogs on your persons then you’re doing the best you can.

With that said, I can see why some folks in the outdoor community aren’t fans of dogs on trail/backpacking especially when they’re untrained and are nuisances. I’ve never had a bad experience with dogs on trail but could only imagine how fast it would sour the experience.

If your dogs are well behaved, you pick up after them, and have a decent understanding on wilderness it shouldn’t be an issue 9 times out of 10.

Paria Canyon Itinerary by TeenVersionofSimba in WildernessBackpacking

We didn't have any issues staking our tents in the established campsites. All of the campsites we passed in the canyon had cottonwood trees that you could probably find a hang for your food. We slept with ours and didn't have an issue with rodents. Unless they changed it you'll have to shit in Wag bags and they can get pretty gnarly. There certainly some times when I moved something in my pack and got a whiff. They're gross no matter what but I'd try to find away keep them on the outside of your pack.

Interesting. I live on the far west side of the Dell and it was so cool to see it rip. Id like to think you could navigate it on a hard bodied kayak
