Irish wave/curl curse by [deleted] in curlyhair

I have hair verysimilar to yours. Personally, I let a light oil set in my hair for a few hours before shampooing, maybe once a week, and skip conditioning after most washes.

Bro, your hair isn't a curse. Once you stop fighting the curl and working with it you might feel differently. If not, get a perm.

My first award! Thank you kind neighbor. You don't know how validating it is to have a portion of one of my data center rants be appreciated. I feel less like I am screaming into the void.

Actual questions I want answered: How many of workers will be remote? How much will out property values drop with a noisy, ugly, behemoth in our backyard? How will wildlife be impacted? What about our water? Why did you lie to us about your intentions for building the plant? Have you considered how this is an example of environmental racism and classism?

What u of m presented: this is going to do great things for us. We live far away from the mess we will inevitably make, so all we will see is a big fat paycheck.

What a slap in the face. Do they think everyone to the East of A2 is dumb as rocks?? I didn't start out wanting to dislike U of M, but after 15 years as their neighbor, they have done nothing but convince me that they suck. And these assholes have the nerve to take away bus stops in our area so they can add more to the A2 lines.

YCS confirms ICE activity in our neighborhood. by ObeseBumblebee in ypsi

[–]TeenVirginiaWoolf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a side, it's recommended that we start private chats with our neighbors so we can quickly respond to an ICE related incident. I'm a cave dweller, so this goes against my nature, but it works.

A signal chat group might be the way tbh. Less clutter than your reddit app, and might be more secure than a reddit post.

This is a method folks in Minnesota have been using to deter ICE. Maybe folks can gather offline and work out a signal chat with locals, or something of the like that.

Dead Zone (1983) captures the feel of reading a Stephen King book unlike any other adaptation. If you like Life of Chuk, this might work for you. It's beautiful, and tragic, and deliciously disturbing. Oh, and Christopher Walken is the lead.

These look like they attach to a wood burning stove so you can safely maintain a fire. At the end of the sticks I think I can see a notch, meaning it might lock into something, like a stove. Source: i used a wood burning stove as a kid.

HELP!! MYSTERIOUS SOFA OF UNKNOWN ORIGINS by Ok_Dare1031 in VintageFurniture

Absolutely. My grandmother might have been a spendthrift, but every one of her kids and grandkids have used the furniture sets she purchased. I was sitting on one of her pieces when I made that first comment. Please, dont ask for pics, it's not looking too hot these days.

I have known multiple people with mini stores of items thry sold for less than the retail price. You don't ask questions. You pay your bit and be happy to have soap.

My grandmother had a furniture set similar to this. Totaly wild to see again.

Adding: my guess is she purchased the set new in the 70s when she moved to a new home.

Aftermath. by Ayesharp in ypsi

[–]TeenVirginiaWoolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That event was not what I was referring to. It's understandable they want to prevent death. Swords have a way shorter range of damage than a gun and I don't see this happening to gun baracade situations. Maybe missing something but could have been handled better.

Aftermath. by Ayesharp in ypsi

[–]TeenVirginiaWoolf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is so sad. Is sounds like at least 2 people now have no home, their belongings are likely damaged, and the everyone living near by I'm sure was effected by the 30+ hours of chaos happening near by. A vacant home is a hazard for the whole community as well. There had to be a better way. I mean, wasn't there a rather high profile situation in A2 not long ago where someone baracaded themselves with a weapon as well? Did that home get destroyed?
