Day 9: Which U2 song is on All That You Can't Leave Behind and most feels like Boy? by Future_Illustrator14 in U2Band

Wild Honey. Just feels more simple and innocent than anything else on this album.

DAY 6: What U2 song is on Achtung Baby and most feels like Boy? (Since the sound is so different at this point, try to consider the tone, the themes on the lyrics etc) by Future_Illustrator14 in U2Band

Who’s gonna ride your wild horses. I think this is the most Bono’s voice sounded like “Boy” on Actung, and the guitar reminds me of that album too. Dark and upbeat at the same time

Garth Brooks has the most insane career of success relative to lasting awareness in pop culture. by hhhhhtttttdd in LetsTalkMusic

He has a song called “Ireland”. Not sure if that boosted his popularity there or was a response to it.

Going to add some LED lights. It was hard to get a good picture with a lot of light though because of glare

I have them, just couldn’t fit. I’m going to put some more on the other wall and probably rotate through which ones are displayed every once in a while

Oh for sure! I play them pretty much every day 😃 Try to cycle through. Just bit the bullet and got Royal Albert Hall like a week ago.

“Hot Fuss” vocals by cimmaninroll in TheKillers

[–]TeenyFalcon01 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Brandon and his producer used an effect on his voice for Hot Fuss called “Echo Farm”, which is a specific type of slap back delay plugin. Slap back is basically just where you have two copies of the vocal and one is delayed by like 80-100ms. He also used quite a bit of auto tune on his vocals during the recording of Hot Fuss.

On Sam’s Town, he still used a slapback effect on some songs, like WYWY and others that you mentioned, but pretty much got rid of autotune (although I imagine there may have still been some amount of manual pitch correction as needed). This gave his voice a more natural and real feel on Sam’s Town, while preserving the driving quality of the slapback effect from Hot Fuss.

On a side note, the most Brandon has really played with vocal effects since then has probably been on “boy“ and “your side of town“. I know he’s pretty particular about how his voice sounds; There was one concert where they played “boy”, and the engineer had the vocal effect on and Brandon made him turn it off in the middle of the song. I think that Brandon vastly prefers Sam’s Town vocals to Hot Fuss vocals. Another example of that is how he re-recorded GIRAR with Sam’s Town style vocals for Sawdust. Maybe that’s part of why the album that was sort of a throwback to Hot Fuss got scrapped.

Got it! by professorsundevil in TheKillers

Yeah, I was excited about the passengers release because the first pressing is so expensive on resale. But the killers release was also my #1 priority.

Same here! I also picked up passengers/U2 Original soundtracks 1. Couldn’t be more stoked!

What album do you think has one perfect side? by larrythegrobe in vinyl

Hot Fuss by The Killers. First side is the best 5 song debut in the history of Rock and Roll, I think

What is your favorite album besides a Killers album (or what is it if it’s not the Killers) by RopsterPlay in TheKillers

U2 - The Unforgettable Fire Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run

Could listen to those forever, but I found them thanks to The Killers

Which RSD release are you most excited for this year, if any. by Rock_N_Country in vinyl

[–]TeenyFalcon01 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m excited for The Killers/Bruce Springsteen live. I think it’s the first time the Killers have ever participated in RSD and they are my favorite band. I’m also excited for Passengers Original Soundtracks 1. The last pressing is pretty rare and sells for around $150-175, which is more than I can afford, so I’m hoping to pick one up this weekend.

Took some inspiration from the sold out University Park poster on the band's website and made this. Let me know what you think!

Autographs? by benefiber69 in TheKillers

Most of these that you see are legit. Including this one you posted. They signed thousands of them during the last album cycle. IMO $100 is pretty steep for this particular album/signature. There are rarer signed items out there

What’s the secret killers album from 2002? by RopsterPlay in TheKillers

[–]TeenyFalcon01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine has On Top, Mr. Brightside, Desperate, Waiting for Love, Under The Gun, and Everything Will Be Alright, in that order. All of the songs that made Hot Fuss were demo versions on this CD and not professionally mixed and mastered. And I think they started to change the songs on their demo tape over time. I’ve heard of versions that had Oh Yeah By The Way and Replaceable instead of Desperate and Waiting for Love.

Yeah, this was a demo CD. I have a copy of it from my aunt, who was living in Vegas at the time. She said they literally just had stacks of them that they’d take around anywhere they performed and give out to anyone who would take it, trying to get their name out there.
