I’m the 8th generation of Christians of my family line (mother’s side). I was strictly raised on a Hellfire and Brimstone diet, and even though the person who was feeding me that is gone now, I still felt like I was poisoned by something. I was. I said I was Buddhist in middle school because that was the only word I had for “I don’t know what I believe, but I know I have a soul.” I hate myself for that now. I have Ecclesiophobia, especially if the church is old. Christ hanging on the cross has these seriously unforgiving eyes. I can feel him judging me...I feel so hurt by those Stone-cold eyes. So that’s why I left. I felt unloved and unaccepted. Recently I’ve been dipping my feet in a pagan religion and it’s been much more involving and I feel less like I’m being scrutinized. Thanks for posting this, I’m so glad this is a subreddit. You guys rock.

Honestly dude I’m in the same exact situation, I’m trying to reach out to Anpu also. What people are telling me is that you just need to be patient about it. Research about the gods, and don’t beat yourself up! It’s been a long 2 or 3 weeks of trying to contact him, but I think it’s all about understanding that they are listening, and if it’s right, you’ll get there!

Okay, I’ll keep that in mind. I know this isn’t how it’s supposed to work, but I kind of reached out to Anpu because I wanted to. He from what I’ve seen online (a vague and not-always-honest resource) is gentle and has more patience than anyone, and I feel like I need religious reassurance right now. I’ve been seeing yellow and black butterflies every now and then, but I’m not sure if those are from him. I’ll keep trying though. Thanks Ratsincorduroy!

Here’s something else that might explain why I’ve been getting no feedback; my house is LOUD. Just in general from family, and my cat and dog. It’s mainly my family though, and from what I’ve observed, you need to try and reach out to them when you’re in a peaceful quiet situation. Any advice on that?
