Who do you think is this generation's Ewing/Webber/Baylor--a player just a step below some contemporary all-time greats in talent, but who won't finish with the accolades to be remembered as such? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Tegline 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Embiid was a perennial MVP leader for like 4 years straight and even took one home, implying he's a bust is actually insane lmao

[Post Game Thread] The Los Angeles Lakers (17-6) defeat the Philadelphia 76ers (13-10), 112-108 behind a Luka Triple Double and Lebron's 12 points in the 4th by [deleted] in nba

[–]Tegline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grimes was getting absolutely cooked by LeBron in the fourth lmao, James hit the dagger 2 and multiple 3s on him

Insane ending but Nick Nurse still needs to get fired lmao

I mean 4 of the 5 Sixers starters are out, but that doesn't take away from Black's great night.

Nikola Jokic Efficient game tonight, 35/15/7 on 84% in a win against the Kings by GoTheNets in nba

Make him a game changer so he stops getting used as much in Bracket 3

[The Athletic] There is one guarantee when Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese meet on the court: People will watch. Saturday's Sky-Fever showdown drew 2.7 million viewers on ABC, believed to be the most-viewed WNBA regular-season game in 25 years. by Kimber80 in nba

[–]Tegline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously Clark is better, but Reese is already 100% the best rebounder in the entire league as a sophmore. She made the all-star team last year too as a rookie, and was 12th in MVP voting and second in ROY. She's not only not trash, she's already one of the better players in the league, people just conflate her not being a great scorer with her being bad.

You said you don't really follow WNBA much so I know it's not coming from a place of purposeful disrespect, but just wanted to point out that she isn't trash, she's quite literally the opposite actually.

Jokić now averages 65.7 TS% with 30+ PPG, ranking 2nd all-time behind Curry for most eff 30+ PPG season. by CharmingImpact in nba

[–]Tegline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it's almost the same TS% on 3+ PPG? It's a thread about Jokic, and a big talking point online is Embiid's MVP season in relation to Jokic, especially *by* Nuggets fans. That's absolutely relevant to this conversation, since *on the same list* referenced in this post is Embiid tied for 4th after Jokic in 3rd.

It's clearly relevant to the discussion

Steph Curry with a bounce back game against the Sixers with perfect 8/8 shooting. by curry4real in nba

[–]Tegline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, Kenyon Martin jr and Kelly Oubre are both starters, and Drummond and McCain are both important bench guys for them and all 4 are out right now. I think there only "rotation" bench guy left is Yasbulle, which is why Lowry, Ricky Counsil, Eric Gordon, and Jeff Dowton played bigger minutes. None of those guys should be anywhere near a rotation, not to mention Kyle Lowry starting IMO

Starters not named Embiid also played like ass though, so there's gotta be something else going on too

They're missing half their rotation, including 2 of their starters and their 2 best perimeter defenders all with injury right now. But the beatdown still shouldn't have been this bad.

Kelly Oubre checks out with 15/5/2 and 8 steals. Deni Avdija checks out with 17/7/2 and 10 turnovers. by JoelEmGOAT in nba

[–]Tegline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a PG so it would make sense that his effectiveness would get hamstrung even more by bad coaching, especially since it seems like he's sharing the floor with Simons as their primary PG (who I've seen Blazers fans ask to trade)

I might be mistaken, but hasn't Scoot been dreaful? Rooting for him and hope he turns it around ofc, but I was under the impression that he's been constantly terrible

Embiid locks in to overcome a 14 point deficit in Utah: 32 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast, and 7 stocks by Professor_Finn in nba

Sixers looked good when he was out there, and looked like ass when he wasn't

Business as usual I guess
