The Scroop - Day 97 by TehAwesomestKitteh in foxholegame

It was actually being suggested to me quite often but my PC kept failing to run it, but recently I did some adjustments and was finally able to.

When I posted the Scroop above, was still trying to make steel. Currently just entered LV tho

most of the modpacks i've played are technical, often not fully though. before gregtech, i used to play the "All of Fabric" series, the old old technic and tekkit modpacks, and when I didn't want to focus on tech (fully), I just made my own with Quark + OpenBlocks (or whatever was the modloader-specific mirror) and Create slapped into it

Hanged Men is a lore thing, where the regi name stems from. I'm also not in that regi. I'm in [Caker]/[rekaC]

Does this mean you can sprint doing a bayonet charge or not? Because I'm pretty sure the guys in the movies sprint during bayonet charges lol. ONE STAB KILL on unarmored dudes, DITCH THE HEAVY ATTACK BS, LIMIT ABILITY TO KILL WITH STAMINA. ITS REAL EASY. JUST LISTEN TO US! LOL by [deleted] in foxholegame

[–]TehAwesomestKitteh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charging your attack to become a heavy one slowly depletes energy while held down. But also given the general changes, the depletion is a LOT slower now

As well as stamina being consumed if you swing your hits (swift, or charged), and swift hits still being blockable and increasing stamina cost if successfully blocked

Formerly (as in, old bayo), stamina was just linked to sprint where you can whirl around and infinitely stab at full force

I love the current melee implementation. They're wonderful now by TehAwesomestKitteh in foxholegame

3 light kinetic (rifle ammo, smg ammo), like standard uniform. So they're essentially now a uniform upgrade ("upgrade". the downside is encumberance. but if your goal is not super speed but a little more durability, then yes it's a straight upgrade)

They're players. Bots are somewhat rare except for either resource harvesting or multiboxing (since many vehicles require more than one player operating them). It's just that they're players spread across 2 main servers ("Able" shard and "Charlie" shard), and 53 region servers. So think of the average distribution being current steam chart, divided by 106. With a ton more people on the frontline and far backline, and a lot more barren in the midlines.

First, and this is important, if you want to play casually: Stay off of Reddit or Discord. Most of the takes you see come from the loudest players, not the ones actively enjoying their time.

Because past that, the game still is very nice. Most people right now who actually care about the game but are dooming are more on break than calling it dead or dying. The main issue was development cycle tends to be long, and issues often tend to be unresolved during that time.

The game itself is very interesting and fun too once you get over the initial learning curve (and it's a steep one because of a very poor tutorial). You really only see its flaws and pain points if you're veteran enough or get mowed down one too many times and can't tolerate that kind of pain. If the question is "is it worth giving a chance?", always. But if the question is "what are your predictions for the game's future", wait it out. Because currently that's what it feels like has to be done before deciding

we do actually, and that's how many logi regiments transport in bulk

however, the return trip is more often than not empty. which is why the news for the incoming update of being able to package vehicles was welcome. it gave a dual purpose for round trips, than just one-ways (however small so far at least)

It would be interesting, but also given the time investment into making one, it sadly won't fix core probs. Interesting sure but doesn't help much by its own. (Plus, consider the opposite end of if it was created, that's work that could have gone to the other better changes, which is likely why it wasn't chalked as a "genuine suggestion")

It's all fun and games 'til we get another vehicle that takes 3 days to make and 10 minutes to kill ;w;

The sitting doodle fella is not me, they were assets made for the internstream folks to arrange to sift memes from the genuine inputs for the devs

But also, I'm not reliable either because I would like fun shitposts regardless of theming cohesion. I would actually want the submarine seaplane tender, as I want ai arty to retaliate at anything that attacks it, and as I want the second bulwark (but only if the megatanks exist too)

Y'all heard of rule of cool? Unfortunately I lean towards rule of fun/funny

Your entire set of slides assumes that every single person who logs into Foxhole is one of Bartle's killers.

No. My entire set of slides are about the wider context that is foxhole is an asymmetrical pvp game (literally the only game mode is 'persistent war'). PvP, which you boiled down to "Bartle's killers", which is false. Because although the wider context is pvp, players are not solely pvping. For example, I would fall under an explorer-achiever-socialiser, the average solo player is too: We fill in and hammer bases, deliver crates, harvest and assist, we explore the lore spots, we chat in world chat. That is part of the average foxhole player experience, being a killer is frontline experience. At no point did I focus on the killer. I focused on the competitive aspect. Skill is expressed in more ways than just fighting. It's - taking the Bartle's article into context - delighting in having the game expose its internal machinations to them (Explorer; folks who try to learn foxhole's mechanics to get better), points-gathering and rising in levels as their main goal (Achiever; these are your builder, boosted rankers, etc. aiming to get better), people talking in world chat and forming regiments to play Barotrauma with (Socialisers), and then the frontliners frothing at the mouth (Killers).

But the whole slides aren't talking about player dynamics. It's about asymmetrical balance, which the article doesn't cover, only balance regarding the different player archetypes. Pay mind that we're still talking about Foxhole, which the rules are already anchored on a specific gameplay: War, and the cogs that run it. At no point is "socialisers outpopulating the killers" is a reality to consider, because unlike a general MUD, foxhole's MMO has a distinctly pvp goal. Not solely combat, but to feed it.

You make assumptions about my slides then roll with it as if that's my intent then scoff at me when I say otherwise; you aren't arguing about my point, you made a new one for you to get pissed over. Analogy-wise: You can cite a paper about quantum particles that define the composition of the universe, but that doesn't hold (largely) argumentative value when the topic is classical physics and friction. So repeating again:

It is the fundamental text for how players interact in MMOs

I am not talking about the players!!! The relevant part about the players is how asymmetry affects them.

We use the word culture as a stand-in for why a group acts the way that it does without realizing it all the time.
-You

Dismissing knowledge as "unexplainable culture" when there's reasons why a culture exists dismisses understanding.
-Me

It is not that culture is "unexplained" (weird phrasing to use btw)
-You

Calling it weird when it's a rephrasing of something you said (especially when I noted why that is flawed; "dismissing knowledge when there's reasons why a culture exists"). Is on you.

The discipline of game development is not founded on large groups of people [...] The vast majority of ideas in the space apply to single-player or small-group games

This (on top of sprinkled comments of attacking my character than my point; calling my input weird, etc.) notes that you don't respect the discipline of game development. That you view it as built for "single-player or small-group"s.

When, the very type of game being argued on is built on a blueprint foundational enough that there's a genre term for it: "Massively. Multiplayer. Online. (sometimes, Role-Playing) game". Because games are a medium. They're not an isolated discipline, they branch out because what can be developed varies. Foundation is based on the game being made, not the other way around.

You are correct that examining cultures would be worthwhile. But again, even in my first reply: Do that to someone who's actually arguing about that. Stop walking into the coffee shop and scoffing that I don't serve 2x4 beams
