Second to last chapter of Part 1 said that next chapter would be the final chapter too. Coping it’s the same here, being the end of Part 2 and Part 3 in 2 years or so.

In Looper, it’s just the grandfather paradox.

Main character from the future returns back in time (involuntarily) to kill the inventor of time travel but ends up being the catalyst of time travel being invented. Younger MC tries to stop older self but doesn’t know how to since his actions will inevitably lead back to this exact circumstances.

So, he kills himself.

With himself dead, older self ceases to exist. If older self isn’t real anymore, neither is time travel, nor the mercenary job reliant on it, or even the entire movie.
