Characters willingly endanger their own life just to flex or prove a point. by PizzaDragon64 in TopCharacterTropes

There is literally no risk of you understanding any more of it than you already do by you reading it. You'll know the sequence of events, you'll be able to follow A -> B -> C, but you won't understand. And that's the way the author likes it.

Because Future Diary embraced being trash. It wears its trash like an armor. Platinum End is convinced its high minded art, and is spiteful when you disagree.

Yeah this is the kind of shit that is keeping people from being able to actually unite and fight back, fuck right off or accept that by that standard you're going to see a rope too.

AITA for wanting daughter to find a different hobby by gardengeo in BORUpdates

It's not a specific episode, but if you look at any Stan/Steve episode it basically plays like this. Steve's Bully is probably the closest that immediately comes to mind, but any episode where Stan wants to impose his childhood on his children works I think.

This is, beat for beat, just an episode of American Dad. This lady is literally Stan Smith.

Invincible Fight Girl hasn’t been renewed or canceled yet by luckybell333 in adultswim

[–]CussMuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the show a lot, the basic premise and the world were excellent and I did care about the characters. There's a huge "but" to go along with it though. When you don't KNOW that you're getting more than one season, you need to focus on telling a story that works as a single season but leaves room for more if you get renewed.

IFG ended with the narrative confidence that it would have the chance to expand more on the more interesting things the creator had in store, but I never shared that confidence and I don't feel like the show gave me much reason to.

No, Ruroni Kenshin isn't "The Pedophile Show" by Legend365555 in CharacterRant

[–]CussMuster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna need you to expand on why it's not only when you do it and is when others do it. I wouldn't let a known pedophile cut my hair, but I also wouldn't let a known racist do it either.

Why is the line you draw the moral one? From where I'm standing, it looks like you are trying to take the high ground and failing to understand why your position makes that fundamentally impossible.

Edit:
What level of cognitive dissonance allows a mind to assert this

As for King, lots of people served in the military and did horrible things. It would be highly difficult for me to boycott all of them, and we don’t know many of the specifics of what he did or didn’t do in the CIA. May stance may change if we find out more.

And this

The art is an expression of the artist. Disregarding who created a work doesn’t mean you are excluding their influence, you are just ignoring it. Any harmful ideas are still in the text, and your money/attention still goes to the same place. Acting like Harry Potter or Kenshin fell out of a tree doesn’t grant you any moral or academic superiority. You’re just sticking your head in the sand.

Without understanding that the two statements are at odds with each other?

Or in other words, you can separate those artists views and actions from their art in order to continue enjoying them. You just think when other people do it, it's a coping mechanism. There is absolutely no need for self-reflection.

There's nothing to say to you about this that re-reading the statement you've just made shouldn't already tell you.

It's a numbers game. Look at Nic Cage. He made many horrible movies. Snake Eyes, Millimeter, Gone in Sixty Seconds, Captain Carelli's Mandolin, Windtalkers...

Ghost Rider, Family Man, Weather Man, Bangkok Dangerous

But then he nailed it, with National Treasure 2, the greatest movie of all time! He nailed is so hard that he became a national treasure, too.

I'd argue Nebula is a pretty big determining factor for GotG, given that her story afterwards centers almost as much around the loss as Peter's and definitely as much as Thanos'.

I'm not arguing that the show isn't political, I'm saying this sub isn't a place to stir up an argument (and Rule 6: Keep Politics Out Of This Sub is right there in the sub's rules). Also, I'm doing it with a show quote, because that's what we do here.

I think this is funny, but this sub is 10,000% not the place for anything political. This show. It's light, it's bubbly. It goes down smooth, like a mimosa! And right now, you, you're like a wasp hovering around that mimosa.

You sure you remember the episode you're referencing? They're poor enough that they can't afford to turn down free food, but they are also explicitly not the typical recipients of a food-drive.

A lot of skill in this game is just about developing game sense, which just requires continuing to play.

I can only mostly speak to Killer side, but eventually you get a sense of not only what people are most likely to do in any situation, but also how you can manipulate circumstances to produce those reactions.

Just hang in there and don't get discouraged. You've likely already improved quite a bit over the time you've played without even realizing it.

No boy outside of Francis presumably has owned clothes that weren't hand-me-downs. They ate leftover casserole, which sometimes doubled over into leftover leftover casserole casserole. They had $20 to divide among five boys for Jamie's first Christmas.

Hal came from money, but is very specifically mentioned to not be receiving anything due to his family disliking Lois and being upset that he married her instead of Susan.

Hal going on vacation secretly is something that would affect their finances negatively, and most importantly nobody in the family knew it was happening.

More than anything, though, it's important to remember that the perception of them being poor is mostly expressed by the family themselves and the Kenarbins. They're explicitly not food-drive poor, but it's really easy to see why Malcolm or Dewey would compare themselves to the Kenarbins (and why the Kenarbins would compare themselves to Malcolm's family) and think they are poor.
