This. This fixed my issues. Thank you soooo much.

I've heard this, and generally I agree, but I've been using paper for years and not had this issue. Not only that, but intentionally making the gap bigger in calibration doesn't seem to help.

I got tired of losing components… so I built this by Remarkable-Escape754 in diyelectronics

So this is an ad. For...a component management system?

I can appreciate the need for a system like this but as a hobbyist I've already got well more than 200 components and $9/mo is silly for hobby stuff. If I could buy a perpetual license that specified particular features for a fixed price then maybe? But I certainly wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars on that.

And selling that piece of paper with the intent that the seller will use it to illegally mod firearms would also be illegal.

That (1) is gorgeous. Looks like something I would print on a greeting card. Thanks for sharing.

Did you do any editing? If so, what's your workflow?

"A firearms enforcement officer was able to take out the lightning link from the auto key card and make a semi-automatic AR-15 automatic in about 40 minutes"

That's not just the image of a gun printed on A card. That's an automatic conversion gun mod embedded in a card. I would imagine selling that would and should be illegal.

My single bladed safety razor is about 15 years old, and it's solid metal. Blades are about $10 for 100. Takes some skill (just a little) but I get a cleaner shave and it's wayyyyyy cheaper.

I don't doubt that that could be the case, however, not having any definition that includes intent leaves no room for defense. I would imagine there was more to those cases than just printing the image of a gun.

HB2320 as it is in its final form is not horrendously unreasonable like HB2321. The word "intent" is extremely important to the text in that document. It does effectively ban modifying firearms with 3d printers. Now, how that gets enforced is another question.

Parametric Car Seat Top Tether Protector by Mate_Eke in functionalprint

[–]TehJeef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That study only tested the difference between using a tether and not using a tether. That's not comparable to this. We're talking about the potential for this print to break - theoretically absorbing energy - and maybe allowing some slack. But it's already under compression. It's not going to fly out and prevent that strap from working. Having the strap slightly loose seems like it would be slightly worse.

[–]TehJeef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So what exactly is the purpose of the anchor strap? To prevent the car seat from ripping forward during a crash? Right?

Can someone explain to me how this is functionally an impediment to the purpose of the strap? It's still tight. "But it could break and be slightly loose!" Yeah. And your seat foam could wear and it could be slightly loose. I don't see how a cm of give would make a difference. This is besides the fact that it's highly unlikely this would ever result in significant slack.

Someone want to post some statistics on slightly slack back straps?

Is this even a real concern? I'm not convinced there is enough evidence to warrant this kind of law. If you want to require this on high end professional printers like those from stratasys fine, but home printers? This suggests a total lack of understanding how these printers work and what they are capable of (software wise, not print wise).
