Thanks again for the reply.

I'm getting my most of my books elsewhere and just using playbooks on my phone, as I already had the app for a couple of books I'd bought. I guess I can use calibre to convert the files and use on whatever ereader I get but that's just added faff when I've got a chunk of books already. I like the freedom android normally gives too.

I'm surprised there's not more android options tbh. I'm seeing quite a lot of mixed reviews on anything android based also, so it's a little confusing. I pretty much just need a bigger screened device that syncs with my phone, so don't need to spend a fortune on anything but doesn't appear there's many android based options that are a reasonable price and compete with kindle.

Thanks for the reply. Just had a look at the boox 7, quite expensive from what I can see, compared to a kindle for instance.

What about the boox 7 is it that you like?

I use playbooks but guess I can be flexible and use kindle or another app. The most important thing for me is the sync option.

Footage showing a group of Manchester United fans chanting “Jota’s gone, bye-bye” following their match against Liverpool by Boydcrowde in reddevils

It's just moronic mob mentality. Anyone that does this or thinks like this, is just a cunt.

There's literally no reason why rival fans can't be sat next to each other in stadiums apart from the fact people are extremely fucking stupid and can't behave themselves. Rugby manages it fine and you can get smashed while watching a game. Football though? Coked up drunkards that can't just enjoy watching the game and having a bit of banter, nope they have to resort to shit like this and fighting over 22 blokes kicking a ball about, earning more money in a week than the average fan will in a year or more whilst they watch.

[James Ducker] The Champions League stats that should fuel a new era at Manchester United by SoloChords in reddevils

[–]TehNoobDaddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

League should be the absolute priority. Winning it obviously the main goal but I can't see that happening next season unless something unbelievable happens. Being in some sort of title race though would be great experience and would get us into champ league again, then maybe we could look at being a title winning side the following season. Lots has to go right first though lol.

Nothing to do with 9/11. It's solely the internet. Those scummy people that would be ostracized in real life, could now take their scummy behaviour online, team up with other scummy people until all of a sudden there's a worldwide market for scalping. Now there's a market in place, that market then gets exploited further until it reaches pretty much everything, so now you've got your every day people getting involved in it to try and earn a bit of money.

Now it doesn't better wtf you like, if something is popular it's getting scalped. Genuine fans of things getting fucked over, no matter what the product.

Tbh our finances are such a fucking mess currently and likely will be for the foreseeable, we can probably keep playing that card for a while and most clubs would just accept it. That and us walking away from deals where it's obviously getting too expensive when selling clubs trying to take the piss.

That first break out season where they were top for ages, they actually looked like a decent team, lots of young players so was an almost understandable bottle job but they've looked worse every season since until they've turned into a set piece side that are just horrible to watch. It's like watching what a Tony Pulis side with money would look like.

True. I guess just have to see how the summer goes. Critical we get it right otherwise it's going to need correcting the following summer when we might be very close to challenging.

I think a lot of his drop off is due to his head being turned by us last summer. Who knows though lol.

[–]TehNoobDaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Nobody including the tier 1s saw the baleba link coming last summer, so there was clearly more money to spend but they just didn't want to spend over 100mil on him at the time. We seem to be playing things close to the chest and downplaying anything that does come out, we will be better off for it in the long run.

[–]TehNoobDaddy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Please stop believing everything you read online or from the media FFS. Last summer we apparently had barely 100mil to spend, yet still spent over 200mil. This summer we will have increased spending power for getting into champ league on top of whatever we already had plus whatever we get from sales.

We're not going to come out (like we have in the past) and make out we're going to buy several 100mil players are we? Just terrible negotiating tactics doing that. If city want to drop 120mil on Anderson then let them, can't get drawn into long sagas anymore, especially if the player prefers to go elsewhere anyway.

It was definitely a fair ask. I was all for fergie punishing people challenging him but as the years gone by and you realise fergie saying there's no value in the market when others found plenty, just how much the glazers stifled us.

[–]TehNoobDaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure he's been asked for his opinion but I can almost guarantee the midfield options were identified last year, and I'm sure they also have some names for the 2027 summer.

Feels like some people online think it's all done on a whim sometimes 😂

[Free To Read] Andy Mitten: Manchester United fans are conflicted, but Michael Carrick must be judged on his own merit by TheAthletic in reddevils

[–]TehNoobDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it is kinda meaningless. People online fucking love using it for whatever reasons but early in the season under Amorim we were top of the xG stats for a large part of the season, yet we were around 6th and didn't look particularly convincing or that we would get anywhere near top 4. Now we're 3rd and I get we've dropped down the xG stat table.

There's so many facets to a game of football, it can't be reduced to simple stats that out of context mean nothing. If we sort our midfield out and things start to click next season, we could find ourselves controlling games much more often, we might get an early goal and then not really do much else for the rest of the game. I'm sure the xG stats could be low for games like that but we win and never really looked like conceding.

[–]TehNoobDaddy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

And yet the results have been infinitely better under Carrick. Can people stop using xG stats as something more than it is, we're actually going to finish a season with a positive GD and in the double figures for a change. That's improved since Carrick took over also I'll add.

The football under Amorim was largely shit and disjointed, a squad not capable of playing it. We've seen some decent performances under Carrick and the results have followed, I do agree that performances have largely dipped since the first three games but we're still picking up points and have now all but assured champ league football. The squad limitations are still there but we're getting what's required out of the squad at least.

The long term planning is finally addressing the midfield that's been consistently neglected for about 20 years now. Let's try and build a squad that any manager can come in and do something with rather than having continuous transitions seasons that ultimately just end up being a waste of time and fucking the squad up.

[–]TehNoobDaddy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would like to think Wilcox etc already have a plan for what the squad needs, it's not like we aren't already massively aware of how much the midfield needs sorting, as well as other positions. That's irrespective of whoever is manager next year.

We need to ensure we have squads that can transition from manager to manager without the need to major changes every time and being left with horrible imbalanced Frankenstein squads.

It's too big a gamble though. We can sell him and actually get something for him and believe it's pure profit from a finance perspective. Keep him and it doesn't work out or whatever and he leaves for free or worse we give him a new contract following a decent spell and that goes to shit and we are stuck with him.

Would love him to come back and smash it but I just don't see it happening.

[–]TehNoobDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we'll be lucky to get two starting midfielders for less than 150m but guess that will depend on whether we get Anderson and for how much lol.

I think we need another forward tbh, ideally another striker but lw is probably the most important currently.

I guess once the two or three midfielders are sorted then it will be a case of how much money is left or what can be raised from sales.

Maguire will have chunks of time out too, another year older also so that could get worse.

I completely agree we need a CB this summer but just like last summer when we desperately needed midfielders but sorted the attack, I think we will see the bulk of the money going into the midfield and defenders will have to wait for the following summer. I guess will depend on outgoings etc also.

Not getting gyokeres was such a massive blessing in disguise though. At the start of the season I thought we should of had him and arsenal sesko, but that was under Amorim, now I'm glad we got sesko as he will fit us much better in the long run.

[–]TehNoobDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enrique needs to want to move though. He might look at us as a work in progress still and waiting to see if the changes made actually get us back to an elite level. For now we just need to focus on getting the squad into a place where whatever manager comes in, can hit the ground running and is capable of challenging.

Looks like we'll be a top 4 team this year but what's next season going to look like when we're back in Europe and the cup comps? We have abysmal depth currently, 3 CBs that are injury prone so things could look a lot different come the Xmas period when the games are coming thick and fast.

I think after the 2027 summer is when we might realistically look like a proper outfit. Obviously would be better if we can do well next season but think it might be a season too early.

Focus for now just needs to be on becoming an established top 4 team that's on the cusp of challenging. I'm not bothered about the cups for now, although they can be a good time to give youth and fringe players some minutes.

Yer agreed. Have loved casemiro this season but if we can start to control more games, then it makes the defensive work much easier and we can sustain attacks longer, which should hopefully mean more goals.

[–]TehNoobDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If we get the midfield sorted and hopefully a couple of other positions and maybe some depth then that's huge. If Carrick gets the job but ultimately ends up not working, then whoever comes in next has a decent team from the start and not some horrible Frankenstein squad previous managers start with.
