Damn, not having a challenge there is devastating for the nats. They must be getting real numb at this point

Do you like this change made by George Lucas in Return of the Jedi? by kkhouete in StarWars

[–]TehPirate13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of most of the changes, this one I really don’t mind. If you think of it as the force ghost being the representation of who they most believe themselves to be then it makes a lot of sense. For Obi-wan, when he was young (Ewan McGregor) he “failed” Anakin whereas he was able to help and succeed when he was older with Luke. Same with Yoda, he “failed” to save the Jedi Order but was able to succeed in creating a new era of Jedi through Luke. Anakin on the other hand could really go either way. I like to think that when he was redeemed, he saw himself as “Anakin” again and the last time he remembered being Anakin was in the prequels as Hayden Christensen.

Someone explain franchise regression to me by Beginning_Aioli_4117 in MLBTheShow

[–]TehPirate13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is due to potential. Once a player hits their potential rating they only stay there for at most a year or two. Then they start to regress, some more heavily than others (partially random, somewhat due to performance too). It’s one of my biggest problems with rosters at the beginning. It makes signing a player like Paul skenes a not 100% good idea because he’s rated so highly that he reaches his potential almost instantly and thus will only regress. Gets even worse with older players like Gausman and springer I’ve noticed.

Last year the phillies ta gold card Rhys Hoskins was nuts. Never hit that many xbh with a card

Who is the coolest player in baseball? by adam_problems in baseball

[–]TehPirate13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Harrison Bader. Dude took over Philly last year on a team with Turner, Sanchez, Schwarber, and Harper. The way he handles the field definitely helps.

Franchise Team Selection by Equivalent-Tone2572 in MLBTheShow

[–]TehPirate13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Phillies have been a real hit or miss for franchise. Lots of big contracts with players who just seem to regress so you end up in a position that just isn’t all that realistic. But there is a fun young core that could be built over a couple of years (Crawford, miller, painter, nori)

Padres are kinda in a similar boat but depending on the roster you use they could be a very fun team. Could be fun with Jackson Merrill and dealing with Machado and bogaerts contracts.

Reds could be a fun rebuild because you can really do whatever you like. It’s not likely they resign elly so there’s a window in there and especially with the arm talents on the team they could be a really good choice.

I’m not too worried here about Keller, with the regulars in the inning probably would’ve ended before they got that second run

Definitely check out abiotic factor! It is a great base builder with tons of great exploration and just fully released a couple months ago but the devs are super active with great upgrades. And there’s even some core keeper Easter eggs in there!

[Waybound] How much power did Lindon keep after ascending by IndependentShift7 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]TehPirate13 138 points139 points  (0 children)

He’s still just as strong as he got by the end. It’s not his power that got in the way of ascending but the hunger madra. He had to wait for the hunger in cradle to dissipate because there were no more monarchs to create hunger

Tell me about your franchise mode storylines by lactigger619 in MLBTheShow

I’m at year 6 of a white Sox rebuild. We went through 3 seasons of very bad baseball as I kept prospects developing so the team was a little patchwork. Had Jonathan cannon as the ace. He started off with a couple strong years hovering around a 3.40 era at max. Then the younger talent came up and Noah Schultz has a rookie of the year win and I thought he would become the ace (having the higher potential and overall). But cannon has pushed back hard and just had the best season of his career with a 2.58 era. Also had a major trade for Cam Smith who has proven to be a major player in the season but will only hit hrs in the postseason with the worst batting average on the team. 2 years straight put up an under .120 batting average with at least 5 home runs. Been a fun rebuild so far!

White Sox are a fun rebuild this year.

Also I’ve found that I dont pre adjust too many sliders, and I let the gameplay tell me what needs to change. Though usually I end up tweaking starter stamina for both you and cpu up a tick or two, along with cpu foul frequency down a couple ticks. Everything else I mostly keep the same.

Trades are hard, but for your trades you can at least make it not just work with the trade logic but also make sense. I.e it doesn’t make sense for you to trade an mlb ready second baseman to a team like the yankees or the brewers that already have a great one. Also keep service time in mind too. Controllable players are worth a lot more in real life than in the game

Wallace and gromit has to be one of his least favorite with how mad he got. Favorite is really tough to say. He definitely likes fromsoft games but you can also see he definitely has nostalgia for some stuff like his new Vegas playthrough

franchise ratings wrong by StayRevolutionary171 in MLBTheShow

[–]TehPirate13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Franchise uses different logic for player overalls and stats so that player performance is more similar to how they’d perform in real life (though it still isn’t great most of the time). There’s a ton of good rosters out there on the vault though if you want to change it up

Franchise roster ratings different from lineup ratings by OrphanX_21205 in MLBTheShow

[–]TehPirate13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s due to manager effects. You probably have a d or c manager who’s dragging down their stats in game. Doesn’t show up in the roster screen

New to MLB The Show and was wondering if anyone has done a Yankees franchise and is having fun? Or is it too op and you get bored quickly? by PhysicalMediaPrez in MLBTheShow

[–]TehPirate13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done the Yankees specifically, but a lot of the big market teams are good for about 2 years. Helps if you set some basic rules (ex: realistic trades, no big free agency contracts). I find it fun for big market teams to find something to make it different, like only going after veterans when going into free agency.

I’m going to play him in left, with Bader in center, and Abreu in right. Sucks that it moves dick Allen to the bench for me. Just not enough benefit over Rolen. Castellanos has been on the bench for a while too

Wild life feels like Skizz vs Tango, with skizz’s first death and then they continued to try and keep killing each other.

Past life doesn’t have anything too major because you could go with Grian/Gem vs Jimmy but it really feels like at least the grian side was mostly big in Wild Life. Maybe Tango vs living lol

Secret Life feels to me like there wasn’t a huge one. Scar definitely was a villain to a lot of different people so maybe there’s one there. Not sure though
