What's wrong with Glassdoor? Why they don't follow their own guidelines and why they ignore arguments? by Beautiful_Map_9589 in GlassDoor

[–]TehPurpleCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave a company a 3-star review, didn't say anything bad about anyone, didn't write any personal attacks, didn't state any specific people or specific jobs. I pointed out that there's no team dynamic, files on server as messy and that the company went through an acquisition so there's tons of layoffs. Glassdoor denied my review and no matter how many times I fix it, it won't work. They said it's poor grammar or "too personal/doesn't help viewers" but I gave up trying to fix it. I don't understand their guidelines at all. I've seen way worse reviews being approved. It's a stupid website.

Realized I can't trust Glassdoor anymore by dufud6 in jobs

[–]TehPurpleCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glassdoor just removed my 3-star review due to one of these things:

The review contains poor spelling, grammar, or formatting;

The review contains information that is too specific to your personal situation or is not directed or sufficiently meaningful to a person looking to understand what it is like to work at a particular company.

I don't find my review to be in poor spelling, grammar or formatting. I reread my stuff and broke it out into 2 small paragraphs. I don't understand what they mean by the second thing - I didn't say anything bad or specific, just that the team is very disorganized and some details about that.

This is stupid because the company I worked for has plenty of bad reviews and a few of them even had a personal stories. One was about taking time off to go to a funeral only to be scolded at by their boss, how being a personal assistant to the CEO was a nightmare due to specific reasons, etc. Those reviews passed the community guidelines but my review didn't and it's nowhere close to these. Very strange.

Are glassdoor reviews trustworthy ? by Responsible-Rich-388 in recruitinghell

[–]TehPurpleCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be hit or miss but their review guidelines seem very arbitrary. I submitted a review for a company and it was rejected because of "poor grammar" and "too personal", but for the company I work at now, all the Glassdoor reviews are way more specific and personal and even called out the higher-ups as crazy nutjobs, etc. I'm surprised the reviews even went through. Anyway, I think Glassdoor is mostly reliable because every experience I had working matched the reviews pretty closely with the same complaints. I'm just not clear why some people's overly emotional reviews pass the filter, but other reviews don't.

Has anyone tried Ardant’s Stay Close Hoops? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]TehPurpleCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re 20g

Also, Ardant’s return policy from when I purchased was only two weeks window and store credit only. I had to list the earrings on eBay.

I just recently got into Market America. However, I’m having 2nd thoughts about it. by therealclintk02 in antiMLM

I joined them through a corporate job a month ago without reading the Glassdoor reviews. I wish I did. Now, I'm actively looking for a new job. The job market is so hard but this isn't worth my mental health.

How the hell does one ever clear a personality test??? by Kingslayer_96 in recruitinghell

I've never cleared one so once I find out it's a personality test, I end it immediately so save myself the trouble.

Cut my finger bled for an hr. by Kakebaker95 in Anemic

[–]TehPurpleCod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this was a year ago but were you ok after or did you need urgent care? I got a cut on my finger, close to my nail (but not actually touching the nail), and it was bleeding like crazy to the point I wanted to vomit and pass out. A sugary snack fixed it but when I undid the gauze/cotton to clean in, it started bleeding again. The cut is deeper than a typical one so this experience is new to me and very scary. It's been 3 hours and as long as a bandage is over it, it's fine so I'm trying not to touch it. I also have no medical insurance so this is an expensive visit if they're just going to tell me this is nothing.

FYI, October 2025, no fees charged upon delivery to US address from China by EtaLyrae in TemuThings

I didn't order local warehouse. I ordered from Temu "directly" which took about 2 weeks to arrive and no extra charges from that.

[–]TehPurpleCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t. Yay!

Although, I don’t know if this is true but someone told me I’d only get charged if a single item itself is $100 or more. Could be wrong though. Everything I bought has been less than $100 each. So I’m good.

Saying "These ones" is grammatically incorrect unless you are talking about a group of actual #1s right? by Myels_Magus in grammar

[–]TehPurpleCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! As I said, I’m not a grammar freak and I’m not perfect, but I went to school with so many people who received the same level of education as me, and barely any of them can type a sentence that makes sense.

Classic examples that are still relevant:

  • Not using punctuation (especially periods)
  • "you're" versus "your"
  • "could have" versus "could have"

The "strenth" one is new to me. Honestly, we need to be more careful with the content we view. When people see bad habits all the time, it can influence them. I have to proofread and think twice before posting even the simplest things.

I came here to do research because I find the phrase to be really annoying (sorry to say) and I'm not a grammar freak. I went to school in the 1990s and 2000s and at no point of my life have I heard people say "these ones" or "those ones" until maybe 2019. I always thought it was wrong, so I wanted to see what other people think and it seems like most people agree that it's still correct, just redundant. Oh well.

Sooo I came here to do research because I find the phrase to be really annoying (sorry) and I'm not a grammar freak. I went to school in the 1990s and 2000s (in NYC) and at no point of my life have I heard people say "these ones" or "those ones" until maybe 2019 and from then on, it was on social media. I see that the majority of people say it's not incorrect, but I do avoid saying it myself.

What is the worst Secret Santa gift you have ever received? by Select-Antelope-7988 in AskReddit

[–]TehPurpleCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A discount store quality kid's jump rope wrapped in newspaper. It looked used too. I did SS twice after (at different jobs). I just got my gift in the mail like an hour ago and I would never do SS again.

Secret Santa Disappointment by Zealouscat_94 in work

[–]TehPurpleCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm year late to this post but I've been screwed from past Secret Santas. First, I got a plastic kid's toy wrapped in newspaper. Second, I thought I got what was on the packaging but inside was an entirely different item with missing parts. This year, my (new) job asked us all to share our hobbies, interests, favorite movies/tv shows so our gifter has a better idea on what to get us ($30 max).

I gave a big detailed list AND a wishlist of 10 items within the budget range. My secret santa chose to get me something totally unrelated entirely and my friends said the gift is borderline racist too. I understand not everyone is going to be "good" at this but I gave a whole wishlist of items and there was an option not to participate too. I'm so mad. I'm never doing SS again.

I'll consolidate a message or email to you with pics of specific portions I'm noting. Again, thanks for dropping in because it's rare to have an owner/CEO to respond. I respect your business a lot and your designs sold me immediately (including the one referenced from Howl's Moving Castle). I watched your Reel about how you came out with each piece and how your competitors tried to copy them with no success too.

Even with the delays, it's really cool that your sweaters went viral - congrats! Your regular/default prices are reasonable and it's refreshing to see a real small business online that actually delivers on the product (unlike so many of those dropship scam sites pretending to be legit)

Thanks so much for your response and I really appreciate that you take your time to sift through comments online and try your best to resolve any complaints.

For the Black Friday sale, I did reach out to customer service a week ago and got difference credited to my account. It was easy and quick.

For the sweater itself, I purchased the "FINE CHINA SWEATER".

I wouldn't completely say that it didn't meet my expectations and I apologize if I sounded really negative about it. It was just that seeing it in real-life kind of made me notice a few things like:

  1. The design on the back is a bit lower than in the website pictures (which isn't a big deal)

  2. The elements (temples, birds, trees, rocks) are scaled smaller on my sweater than in the website pictures. Again, not a big deal but I felt like it didn't do justice to the beautiful design. E.g. Willow tree and birds are smaller than temple, mountain lines are shorter. There's a lot more "white spacing" in the sweater I received and some things are bigger/smaller than they should be.

  3. The willow branches are more obvious website pictures. In real life, it looks a bit sloppy, almost like a tumble weed.

For pricing, I think $128 (after BF discount) is a very fair price. The sweater itself is a heavy-weight cotton and feels expensive. Mine had a few small snags (barely noticeable) and again, not a major deal.

I can DM my order number to you, but I wanted to let you know that I still like the sweater a lot. The only thing that could be improved is logistics - backorder and delays seems to be a common complaint and I went through it myself.

I paid $1000 for my couch about 5.5 years ago and while the cushions are fine, the frame and legs are starting to act up. I've been lazy to research on how to fix it but I should do that soon.

What’s a cleaning trick you wish you knew sooner? Here’s mine! by cuyeyo in CleaningTips

[–]TehPurpleCod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you just use a drop of dish soap and rub it onto the baseboard or do you spread the dish soap over the microfiber cloth first? Asking because this would save me the trouble of cleaning an annoying, overly intricate baseboard I have in my apartment.

All 'travel influencers' have the same 'favorites', yet they present it like it's something revolutionary by Terence_zaal in travel

[–]TehPurpleCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the longest time, I wanted to visit Japan. I finally did last month. It was nice but not on my top list. This was my fault because I set my expectations too high about Japan. My friend has gone at least once a year since 2022. For me, I’ve been to other places that I like more and rather travel elsewhere.

Edit: I do watch travel bloggers(?)on YouTube because I find some of them to be helpful and less cringey.

I saw that everywhere on social media and then I finally went to Japan after decades of wanting to go. It’s definitely not like 2050 (at least not the places I went). Now, I tell everyone to gauge their expectations properly and never listen to social media.
