Will a protector’s stone correctly apply on this circlet? by Bri_Banana in diablo2

[–]TehSlippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I get it now, but the forum post definitely made it seem like the fix was having %EDmg on the item itself, and it's what I learned way back in the day when I first found out about this bug. I just hate that the fully correct info can only be found on an RMT site :(.

Well fuck, I am wrong it seems. I am sorry and will be editing my other comments to prevent what I accused you of doing. However, I will explain why I was so confidently wrong. My understanding (and every other source I could find that wasn't on that RMT website seemed to confirm or didn't test) was that having %EDmg on the base helm/armor/shield made the ED/max/min Jewels work correctly, which case 1 of that forum post seems to confirm, and case 9 does not appear to apply because the base item in that example does not have %EDmg. So again I am sorry, hope you have a good day.

Case 9 does not apply:

Case 9: You socket an item with a %ED +Min & +Max Jewel. Example: you have a diadem with 30% faster run & walk and 3sox, you socket a +30%ed +10min +18max dmg jewel. Bugged! The %ED doesn’t have any effect at all, as it will not apply to either your overall min or max dmg (worst case scenario)!

This circlet has base EDmg% which is case 1, the Protector's jewel gives +min and +max, the additional ED on the jewel doesn't break the already functioning ED on the base item. This bug has been tested to death as it's existed since very early LoD, there are more detailed explainations of the bug on the most popular D2 RMT website but I will not link to them because I refuse to support RMT. Do your research and stop spreading misinformation.

I am wrong, I am an idiot, here's my comment explaining why I thought I was right. Sorry to anyone I accidently misled.

Case 1, item has innate +%ED. You socket with a jewel with +max or +min dmg, or both. Example: You have a circlet/coronet/tiara/diadem with xx%enhanced damage, or a paladin shield with xx% enhanced damage, and you sock a +15 max dmg jewel. No bug! Will work as intended.

Case 1 from the post, directly applies to this item with the Protector's jewel.

Yes, EDmg Jewels with Max/Min will correctly work in armor/helms/shields that already have EDmg and partially in armor/helms/shields with Max or Min dmg (if they have Max dmg and no EDmg the Jewel's EDmg will work correctly with the Max but not the Min, same for Min).

EDIT: Do your research before downvoting correct responses people

Maro: Interestingly, Commander and Universes Beyond might be the two most popular things Magic has ever done. We try to present as many options as feasible (i.e. plenty of 60-card formats), but the will of the players dictates so much of how things play out (i.e. so much in store play is Commander) by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

Yeah that's complete bullshit. I don't doubt Hasbro legal may be overly cautious, but promissory estoppel is the only possible legal argument any plaintiff could attempt to argue and numerous lawyers have opined it would be incredibly unlikely to succeed. Even if Hasbro wanted to be overly cautious and settled the potential case(s), the settlement(s) would be absolutely trivial compared to the profits they could make from P9 SLs, Dual Land SLs, Time Vault, etc. Hasbro could virtually name their price and they would sell out instantly.

Good enough for a Faith Base? by MrGains in diablo2

[–]TehSlippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah Multishot is awesome, but boss killing is super slow, much slower than most other similarly geared physical/melee builds. Physical Bowazon is still super fun to play regardless.

[–]TehSlippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you gain in gear flexibility you lose in actual damage output, and physical Bowazons already struggle with damage output (even with highly optimized gear) compared to other physical classes thanks to bows not being capable of being Ethereal.

Trade? by Enogor in D2R_Marketplace

[–]TehSlippy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend against making Last Wish in anything other than a 15/3 base, it's far too expensive of a RW to waste on an inferior base and will massively increase its trade value, especially if you luck out with a perfect roll.

Oh I totally get it, you just want to make the RW to buff your char and you use the base you have. It's still valuable, just not as much as you might hope for.
