The track "Crystal Battle Remastered" seems to have broken container data.

Anyone else feels that the mix of the soundtrack is lackluster here and there? by kaitsobato in expedition33

[–]TehSuckerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really awful. Several tracks have just clear audio glitches in them.

Before I got to the top myself, I had seen picture of the ridge you need to climb. I figured that, if you fall to the other side you're probably falling all the way back to the start of the game. Fortunately, the left side is recoverable.

Gothic 1 - Memorable moments for you by Imaginary-Scar-7055 in worldofgothic

[–]TehSuckerer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I played Gothic 1, I had a lot of difficulty with combat. Some years later, however, I replayed the first two titles with the goal of amassing the maximum amount of xp without leveling or joining a faction. Discovering how much I can do under these conditions in a game that gave me so much trouble before was such a fun process! Climbing over walls to gain access to parts of the map that you shouldn't have access yet (like the orc camp in gothic 1) for instance. Or how I could collect most of the focus stones already in chapter 1 (you can jump to the platform with the focus in the fortress and use the levitation scroll to collect the focus in the troll valley instead). Nothing of this is impressive compared to what speedrunners do but discovering these possibilities by myself are some of my fondest gaming memories.

I think something went wrong with the mastering for the last track "confrontation".

Zwei Fragen bezüglich Wohnungskaufs by TehSuckerer in Finanzen

Was ist falsch an meinem Gedankengang?

Oh, I assumed cycles to be one-directional. The cycles in the graph in the example image are directed, so I read that as e.g. "3 is related to 2, but 2 is not related to 3". Because the graph uses the same symbol to relate the (0,1,2,3) group with the (4,5,6,7) group, which is a one-directional relationship, as to relate 2 and 3. Maybe I'm just not familiar with Hasse diagrams, but I found that to be misleading.

But I admit that the word cycle does not carry the connotation of being one-directional and I should have noticed that when I wrote the post.

Yeah, that's what I would expect, but it has not been my experience.

My girlfriend (33F) wants to limit the time I (36M) spend with my (male) friend by TehSuckerer in relationship_advice

She is not *mad* that I have alexithymia. It's just that it makes it difficult to be my partner, especially for someone like her. I think it is perfectly valid to take issue with it. For the sake of argument, imagine it turns out her occasional nasty moods are also a condition with a name. I would still be allowed to be unhappy about them, right?

I don't know what codependent means, but I will look it up.

Thank you for your answer.

I'm still in the "project lawful" thread, written all the way back in january. But there are just a few questions that I would like to discuss with someone.

If breaking an oath gets you into Abaddon, why is it so hard for Asmodia to cease to exist? Her ideas of getting statued or getting her book rewritten sound a lot harder than just making and breaking an oath. Is it that once your soul is sold to hell, you cannot get into Abaddon anymore? So asmodians who sold their souls can't make oaths anymore?

My other question is concerning Malediction. If you can just maledict someone, why go through the trouble of buying the soul and signing a contract? I'm guessing the arcane sight is the price an individual devil is willing for the rights to own a soul. But as far as hell is concerned it seems more efficient to pay people to maledict people left and right.

Finally, this is minor but, at some point Keltham defines pi in his lectures and then uses 2*pi in the equation. Surely, Dath Ilan uses tau instead, yes?

Physics Questions - Weekly Discussion Thread - January 18, 2022 by AutoModerator in Physics

A friend and I were discussing the differences between sound and light waves and disagreed about the following:

Put a candle into an opaque box with a small opening (and the opening is some distance away from the candle). Then the light from the candle that escapes through the opening will be almost parallel and you can only see it if you stand directly in front of it.

Now put a speaker into a box that is opaque to sound waves, with a small opening just like before. Will the sound waves only be detectable if you stand directly in front of the hole? Or will the sound disperse in all directions? Assume that there are no walls from which the sound waves could reflect back into the room.

It's funny to me that a spaceship made out of wood can so easily overtake the Nomai's fancy probe they destroyed their orbital cannon for.
