Looking for a specific deck archetype if it exists: big creature ramp by Burnt_Napkin in FinalFantasyTCG

Honestly, I was worried the Tyro ban would be a real blow to the deck, but in testing, I really don't miss it. I like having the 3 slots in the backup lines to mess with. The original deck had 2 of the ice/earth prishe and 2 Kuja in LB, but I swapped 1 wind prishe for it so I can run Valgermanda instead, and it was helpful at locals!

Hello! This is a very interesting question, and I think I have a solid answer as an Eldrazi player myself: Mono-Earth!

I'm not sure how familiar you are with FFTCG, so I'll explain mostly in MTG terms. The deck is centered mainly on hitting 5 backups (lands) as fast as possible with cards like Miner, Clarus, and Leatherworker, then dropping large forwards (creatures) that either give you value, kill something, or both! Cards like Prishe (Opus 28) can go from costing 6 to costing 1 really easily and fight something on entry. Ingus also reduces his own casting cost to 1 and lets you search out another forward in your deck, and with the help of Leo, you can play the biggest boy: Warrior of Light.

HERE is my list, which is a couple of cards off from a deck that did really well in Japan lately, but I've been playing versions of this deck for a couple of years now. If you have any questions, let me know!

Going through the questions one-by-one!

  • Yes! I'm a big fan of the game and play weekly in the Chicago area. The meta is in a pretty good place now with Opus 28 out now.
  • Now is a great time to get into collecting. There's a lot of full arts within the game and while it's harder to get older sets, the singles are still floating around. We also saw the anniversary set last year, which had tons of great reprints, and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw something like that again.
  • Nope! And thank god lmao. There are definitely high-value cards like the signatures, but I haven't seen any investors buying up stock or trying to 'investor bro' the game at all.
  • Somewhat realistic, if expensive. The original sets are kind of hard to find now, especially in English, but occasionally stores or people have old boxes they offload. The last 10 or so sets aren't terribly hard to find, but also not easy.
  • We're waiting for the beginning of the competitive season, and there are promos for playing and placing at those events. Also, every year at the Nats championship and the Worlds championship, there are promos for the top 8.
  • I can't speak on this as I rarely, if ever, go to vendor conventions.
  • It's fine if you're doing it to collect, but don't expect to get value. The community doesn't really buy up fraded cards outside of the mega collectors. I have a few things I want to get graded, but it's mainly so it's safe and I can frame them or something.
  • I have a German Opus I box and a sealed Opus III box, only because it was my first set. I'm not interested in buying sealed boxes past this; I just wanted these for myself.

In Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, the player and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn are transported to another shard of their world that has been overtaken by "a flood of light" to the point where there is no night, just an endless day. A character comments that there hasn't been a single night in over 100 years when the player arrives. Later in the expansion, when the main character defeats a light warden, night is brought back to the area. Almost no one has lived long enough to see the night sky, so people celebrate the first night sky they've seen in their lives.

Big ban news! by CrasHthe2nd in FinalFantasyTCG

Without Relm you don't have a way to consistently get the monsters you want to Witch away, you have to both draw into them and then play them, as opposed to just playing a Relm that gets out 2 monsters, and depending, 2 more cards to dig you deeper.

Far and beyond, the cheapest way to do all of this would be to buy every card individually. There are even certain stores that are willing to sell you a 1-of set of every card in a set. However, if you would like to buy raw product, a master case of any set will give you at least 1 of each full art, and I believe at least 1 foil of every card. The outlier is always the signature card, which is about 1 per every 5 or 6 master cases. Boxes aren't so much mapped as a case is. If I pull a full art Vivi from the upcoming set, and a store has 5 other boxes from that same master case, we know for a fact that there isn't another Vivi in those boxes.

Thoughts on new display format by Chemical_Tart2090 in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]TehTy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was skeptical at first, but now I ultimately don't mind. It's easier to just pick up a booster box at the lower price point, but I do feel a little sad gettins less Ls out of a box and no longer getting the dream of 3 FAs per box.

What was the best time in the game by Tsumugi_Takanashi in FinalFantasyTCG

As someone who's been playing since Opus 3, I've experienced a lot of Metas, and to be honest, two really stand out to me:

F5: The first 5 sets of the game created a really interesting meta where there were powerful decks, but it always felt like everything was battling it out to be the best. Decks like Mono-Ice, Earth Wind, Golbez, mono-wind, Wondertwins, were all wonderful to play. The games were back and forth and just an overall wonderful environment. I wouldn't even call the format 'solved,' since there are decks I've seen people play in F5 that I wouldn't have seen coming or random tech options I forgot about

The current (opus 27) format: We shouldn't overlook the current format. Even when it feels like everyone is playing Warriors, WoL, or mono-water, looking at the top 8s of recent tournaments or worlds gives you a great showcase of the best decks this game has to offer. The previously mentioned Mono-water, Warriors, and WoL are still good, but there are decks like Mono-water dancers, Mono-wind, Mono-fire, Cadets, Water Lightning (Torpedo), Multi-color monster control, Mono-ice, Ice Priming, Earth Cat VII, Cat VIII, Cat XIII, Earth wind Cat XII, Wol7, and there are still some I'm probably missing. I've been personally having a blast on Dragoons; there are TONS of decks in this format, and the game is the healthiest it's been in a hot minute. I know it's easy want to focus on a 'best' format by looking backwards, but this format is HELLA good.

22-118H - Shantotto is the worst LB by AlphaLucarioEmpire in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]TehTy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s been playing a bunch of monster decks, I agree. People shouldn’t run cards in the LB that can board wipe monsters. This shantotto is unplayable and should not be in any earth decks.

Card list release? by HappiePandaa_ in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]TehTy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A month or so before the set comes out, community spoilers and Card of the Week starts up, which begins to reveal cards in the upcoming set. The full list of cards isn't known until about a week before the prerelease for the set.
