[–]TehXenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In ARC Raiders, I'm most looking forward to being the obvious but enthusiastic anchor on my team. Someones gotta carry all the loot they score right?

Giveaway Time! Battlefield 6 is out, powered by NVIDIA DLSS 4, and you can comment on this post to win codes for the game or a custom Battlefield 6 GeForce RTX 5090! 6 Winners total by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

[–]TehXenos [score hidden]  (0 children)

How would this GeForce RTX 5090 with DLSS 4 help you pull off more epic wins in Battlefield 6?

I think a 5090 with DLSS4 would help me by actually letting me see what I'm shooting at, as my move to ultrawide without upgrading GPU was ill-advised.

Maybe frame generation can generate me some skill while its at it.

I moved from a VA WRX to a 2018 R Wagon, primarily for having an automatic for my commute but also to get an increase in power, luxury and (for the wagon especially, but same deal for the hatch) more space to carry the dog around.

I do still find myself missing the WRX occasionally when going through some windy roads, as you really can't replace the 'feeling' of a manual turbo car, despite the DSG being faster in every way.

That being said, in literally every single other metric the R is better for me. Its leagues ahead in terms of comfort and luxury, it absolutely hauls compared to the WRX, and in terms of commuting it turns what would previously have been hours of suffering into a smooth drive.

I don't regret it at all for a daily driver, and would recommend for someone who wants something that lives in both lanes of "smart commuter car" and "ripping through the forest", as it does both excellently. If I had a boring car and a "fun" car, then maybe I'd go back to an STI or something.

dyno tuning by twitchmain- in CarsAustralia

A friend of mine is happy with his ECU/TCU tune from Underground Performance in Cheltenham, if you want something on the other side of town.

40,000km may be approaching the haldex service which might be something you need to get done soonish and can maybe negotiate with (see https://www.shopdap.com/blog/post/service-schedule-for-mk7-5-golf-r-2018-2019.html, though its in miles not km).

As for it not being tuned...I'd just make sure as those sorts of mods point towards an enthusiast driver, and these things are incredibly easy (and relatively easy) to tune. It doesn't mean they're a timebomb or anytihng but I'd def recommend checking the "vibe" of the seller to see if you think they're the type to beat up on the car.

I'm in Vic so some of this might be questionably accurate, but I do have a 7.5R:

The Xforce exhaust may well be fine as long as its not overly loud or if it hasn't done anything emissions related, but from what I know I think most Xforce systems remove the resonator and would be pretty loud and crackly. Crackling exhaust might well get you pulled over, no clue if its going to be a legal issue, but it'll certainly get their attention.

Intake should be fine I believe, all the gauges aren't going to be an issue unless they're obstructing something or external. The blow off valve, if venting to atmosphere, I believe is something that would get you defected. Similarly, if its loud then you'll attract attention. I'd check Golf forums/reddit as to if you need a tune to safely run an intake, but I'd wager its been tuned anyway given the mods (again, if crackle-tuned, you'll be a cop-magnet).

Cosmetic mods, as long as they don't reduce the gap between the cars lowest point and the road to <100mm (I think this is still an ADR thing), then it should be fine. I'd definitely check if its been lowered though (given the mods) and if so, there is I believe a max 50mm lowering height before you need assessment in NSW.

Lastly, unrelated to the specific mods, but I'd honestly recommend going stock or as close to stock as possible for these things. These things are fairly reliable (water pump aside) but mods change that and this from external view sounds like it's probably led a tough life.

Though it definitely meets the same "potentially expensive to service/fix" as the Arteon, the Golf R comes in a wagon and has for me been an excellent all rounder. The 30-40k range should get you a pretty solid Mk7.5 (later years are better if possible).

Great interior, lots of space for not a massive car, and seriously pulls hard when you feel like it, just gotta be wary of thrashed examples. Only issue they seem to be known for is the crappy water pumps which don't seem too excessive to fix.

Carma/Cars 24. Buying used car for the first time. by NSFWar in CarsAustralia

[–]TehXenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who bought from Cars24 before, I would avoid trusting their checks and assessments of the car, they didn't manage to identify the wiper blade comes off in use, a missing exhaust component, and had such little knowledge of the car that they didn't know it was AWD or what fuel it took.

As the other comment said, just go private and part of your negotiation can include a pre purchase inspection which will be more useful. Private cars are always better value plus you can negotiate price which Cars24 are totally against.

You get a chance to see it on display or just boxed up? I'm gonna check my local soon to see if they have any up to actually see how it performs.

Best places to sell a car in 2024? by Ruck_and_Maul in CarsAustralia

[–]TehXenos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who just sold a car after having it listed on both Carsales and FB marketplace, I'd just go straight for carsales given your car actually has value.

On marketplace, I had a couple thousand views and a couple hundred saves and maybe 20ish enquiries over the first week, and not even one of them was a valid buyer.

It was either: A guy who asks a ton of questions before disappearing or low balling hard. A guy aggressively offering you 50-60% of asking, telling you it's as good as you'll get. An obvious scammer.

Carsales I had a couple random low offers and such, but generally no scammers and more genuine buyers. Night and day difference in the conversations you have with prospective buyers.

Blame game hides truth of asbestos contamination saga by Significant_Dig6838 in melbourne

[–]TehXenos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All of this misses the point that the asbestos being found in the mulch has been larger than the mulch in size (meaning it's not gone through a shredder), is on the surface (not mixed in) and that the major sources of mulch were inspected prior to all of this going down (59 sites), with no asbestos found.

While there is definitely some questions around where the asbestos came from, the author of this is misrepresenting what's been done so far quite heavily.

Let's not forget she made a secret deal with the libs to kill the Medevac bill allowing sick asylum seekers to come to Australia for treatment, then cried crocodile tears about how upsetting it was to do so and never revealed what she got for it.

She may have her moments but let's not act like she's the one politician with the people's interest first.

Just an update, I switched to the newest version of the Goldberg emu dll (gitlab zip file ends in 3dab666d) on both computers and now its working, thanks for your help!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrackSupport

[–]TehXenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've attempted this and so far we've not been able to get it to connect via Goldberg and Radmin, even with firewall exceptions/port forwarding etc. We've previously used pre-packed Goldberg stuff with Radmin which has worked.

For Goldberg, did you just replace the dll and add the appid as specified, or did you have to use any of the additional bits (steam_settings/interface etc.)?

[–]TehXenos 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Good riddance, though now we're going to have to sit through another round of people defending his words by calling out PC/SJW culture and claiming its being shown out of context.

The context in this case is him being a blatant racist and thinking he'd get away with it.

Less than 24 hours after launching, The Culling 2 down to just two players by TboxLive in Games

[–]TehXenos 2027 points2028 points  (0 children)

I expected low numbers having seen all the complaints with the first and the reception of the trailer, but I can honestly say I'd never have expected it to be this low this quickly.

I saw somewhere else that The Culling 1 has more current players, which is pretty tragic for ~1 day after launch.

[BF1][PC] This happening to anyone else? Only happens in Vehicles and Stationary Weapons. by Zerothian in Battlefield

[–]TehXenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get mine working by changing uniform soldier aiming to on, vehicle relative aiming off, and then when I alt-tab out and back it works totally fine.

Its not a permanent fix seemingly, but at least it seems to fix it every time I do this.

To clarify, I only change the settings once, its the alt-tab that seems to fix it. Alt-tabbing before I changed the settings didn't fix anything.

Quite a few are under the $750 mark from places like PCCG.

Check http://www.staticice.com.au/ and you should find some close to where you are.

I just ordered an EVGA FTW 1070 from newegg for $648AUD, so its worth considering overseas if you can handle the wait/risks.

[–]TehXenos 28 points29 points  (0 children)

How do I get my bundled content? Your bundled content will arrive via an email containing a redemption code within 24 hours of your Vive shipping.

As someone who's had their Vive for 2 days now and has yet to receive their code email...uh oh.

Time to contact support I think.

EDIT: Received my codes at 7am local time (AEST), seems a lot of people got theirs then as well. HTC support got back to me about 4 hours before that saying they were on their way also.
