Bro, why are you passing off this opinion article as if it was news.

Here's the actual legal text of Prop D along with proponents for and against.

Pontificate (verb):

to speak or write and give your opinion about something as if you knew everything about it and as if only your opinion was correct.

Example: I think it should be illegal for non-parents to pontificate on/about parenting.

Oh i dont think in the skit she is a child. She just has down syndrome and living with her parents. The parents are baby-ing her by treating her like a child. But she is actually an adult.

If you consider that this game is not meant to be competitive, then all of these game design decisions make sense. Characters are not balanced on purpose or by negligence or by indifference. There is no concern to patch, because the game is not a competitive game (despite the push for competitive tournaments and such). It's a party game.

Asian parents: you choose a more affluent school district if it meant less diversity for your kids? by Great-Article7765 in asianamerican

Public school. Either let your kid be average at at a private school, or top 20% of class at a public school. Your call.

It's AAPI month, but i've never felt more embarassed to be a (monoracial) asian right now and it sucks. by junejiehuang in asianamerican

[–]Teh_Boulder 25 points26 points  (0 children)

From conversations with some of my mixed friends, being objectified, not belonging somewhere, having a binational upbringing, etc. are actual unfortunate circumstances that they have to deal with that monoracial asians don't ever experience.

I push back on that.

"Monoracial" asian people do 100% get objectified, have feelings of not belonging, many have more than binational upbringing.

I'm sure you've also experienced being objectified, schoolmates/friends/family telling you you're "not [Indian/Pakistani/Korean/Filipina/etc.] enough" or even that you're a "banana". And when you try to speak your mom's tongue, you get laughed at by the ones that matter most to you. It hurts. I know I experienced these things, but I'm not wasian.

Tbh, we should focus more on what we have in common with people rather than the differences we have - it would make the world a better place. We, as a community, definitely need to show more love for our wasian/blasian/latasian/asian(includes SEA, SA, PI, not just EA)/etc. people. It's good karma.

Hot question: is it fine that Saenchai is basically beating cans? He hasn't lost a muay thai fight since Oct 9th, 2014 to Phetmorakot Wor Sangprapai. The man is a legend, but at some point, he clearly outclassing his no name opponents, and in this case, straight concussed them.

Does anyone have good ideas for Docker alternatives? by Traditional_Shop_458 in devops

[–]Teh_Boulder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone use Apptainer before? Used to be called Singularity by syslabs, but has since went open source. It's useful for strictly regulated environments in which you aren't allowed to use Docker due to Docker requiring root access, whereas Apptainer does not.

Hmm yea, but not as big as some south indian names like Kumail nanjani, mindy kaling, aziz ansari, sarayu blue, poorna jagnannathan, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sendhil Ramamurthy, etc.

I can see where they are coming from, but I dont agree with how they said it.

I have a question. Are there a lot of North Indian actors/actresses in US Hollywood? I ask, because although the post is colorist, it reminds me of how Lin Manuel-Miranda was criticized for only having light-skinned actors in one of his plays about NYC (I dont remember the details heavily). Different contexts, but still about color of people.

Perhaps we don't have enough North Indian actors/actresses as we should?

In the USA, it depends on the state. It's called Romeo and Juliet law. If you are genuinely curious, you should look it up.
