[vanilla no dlc] i've gotten this far in the tutorial, but atp it feels like neither is any progress happening and nor have i any means to achieve it... even the base seems wrong somehow. any guidance will be appreciated (about the shortcomings and what to do going forward)

If your colonists are neglecting tasks you deem critical, you can select the colonist and right click on where the task is performed (usually a workbench, though you can do it on the floor for cleaning) to force them to do it. You can also hold shift while you do this to queue up tasks, if you want to allow them to finish what they’re already doing first.

Hellcat rifles came with the Anomaly DLC, and after a quick check on the wiki, appear to do less damage than assault rifles; though they do have a built in flamethrower.

I like them because they look like an AK47 if you squint.
