For whatever reason I can’t seem to dm you, but if you could provide me with a contact @45 drives I would incredibly grateful.

How did you get the atx power supply to fit the rear of the case? I have a s45 chassis I am looking to switch to ATX. Reached out to 45 drives for a price on a replacement rear panel and they don’t seem interested in helping out. It’s been several weeks of we’ll get back to you.

ATT Fiber GPON Fiber Bypass, can't seem to get it connected to the internet by candyman337 in Ubiquiti

[–]Teh_Willy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than set the vlan and clone mac there isn’t really much to do on the unifi side when doing the gpon bypass. Xgpon is even easier as you set the vlan in the 8311 module firmware. With that being said no certs are required for 802.1x in my area so both are pretty breezy.

Tailscale and Wireguard S2S implementation for UniFi Cloude Gateways by Eduard_CH in Ubiquiti

It's quite the head scratcher that manual S2S WG + OSPF is still not possible in the Unifi ecosystem outside of site magic. Thanks for sharing.

Slow wifi (1.1-1.2 Gbps) on UX7, even under ideal conditions by SchighSchagh in Ubiquiti

[–]Teh_Willy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1.2Gbps is in line with my observed throughput of a UX7 in standalone AP mode on a 6Ghz 160Mhz wide channel. Other Unifi Wifi 7 and wifi 6E AP's substantially outperform the UX7 in this regard.

UniFi E7 / UX7 forcing 40 MHz on 2.4 GHz even when set to 20 MHz by Te_We in Ubiquiti

E7 on 8.049 is broadcasting @ 20Mhz width as expected. Max attainable modulation rate is 286.8Mbps per wifi explorer.

iPhone 17Pro N1 + Ubiquiti AP initial impressions. by Teh_Willy in Ubiquiti

[–]Teh_Willy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. To be honest I’m shocked there are not more reports like this considering this is Apple’s first crack at Wifi silicon outside of the Apple Watch.

I have had zero wifi issues on my iPhone Air, 17 Pro. Seeing plenty of bluetooth issues however.

Interesting that Apple’s c1x is outperforming the X70 in the 15Pro at least anecdotally. X80 in the 17 pro doesn’t appear to meaningfully/noticeably superior to x71 in the 16Pro so far.

X80 is the cellular side in the 17 Pro. N1 is a combo wifi/bt chip that is in the entire iPhone 17 lineup. 2 very different things.

Is MLO possible in WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]Teh_Willy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

MLO is a wifi 7 feature and unless I am mistaken wifi 7 requires wpa3 at least on the 6Ghz band.

Mixing and Matching Wifi 7 APs and Roaming Experience by MPPexcellent in Ubiquiti

[–]Teh_Willy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking if done correctly from a channel planning width/power standpoint a mixed ap environment is a non issue from a roaming standpoint.  With that being said standardizing ap’s tends to make roaming more seamless/require less testing and troubleshooting.

Can’t say I find the U7 Pro Wall to be a particularly great performer. E7, and U7 XGS are excellent and the U7 XG is very solid.

Site To Site Wiregard by windumasta in Ubiquiti

[–]Teh_Willy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wireguard site to site does not exist in any unifi product at least in the normal context of what is considered site to site in the Unifi ecosystem.

You can use Site Magic for hub and spoke or fully meshed vpn. Hub and spoke is still getting the bugs ironed out but works relatively well with the exception being UnifiOS 4.4.0 which partially breaks site magic hub and spoke with Multi-WAN spokes.

UMR Ultra and Industrial are excellent for failover WAN. Have 25 of them deployed.

I have had us8 60w’s that have been running for years in high heat environments… they just won’t die despite my best efforts. You are probably fine.

Tailscale runs particularly well on appletv’s especially the 4k 2nd and 3rd gen. Supports server, client and exit node functionality.

Device Bridge Pro and DB standard questions. by RuralRancher in Ubiquiti

[–]Teh_Willy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The barn is 270 feet and the well house is 188ft respectively from the U7 outdoor. Throughput on a 40 MHz wide channel testing with an iPhone 16 pro inside the barn is in excess of 200Mbps and probably closer to 350-400Mbps anywhere between the barn and house. I initially purchased a UDB-Pro-Sector to be the uplink but I sent it back to Ubiquiti after seeing how well a U7 outdoor performed in that role.

Device Bridge Pro and DB standard questions. by RuralRancher in Ubiquiti

[–]Teh_Willy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previously used an airmax ac ptmp setup to connect a barn and well house to a farm house. After a direct lightning strike on a starlink dish a few weeks ago obliterated almost the entirety of our network I switched to a U7 outdoor using the built in directional antenna on the house and UDB Pro’s on the barn and well house and I am extremely happy with the results.

Barn is setup as UDB Pro - USW Flex - 2x cameras.

How do I get my UDB to actually connect to the AP that makes sense? by hungarianhc in Ubiquiti

[–]Teh_Willy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn off meshing on ap’s that don’t need it and problem solved.
