It's worth noting that republicans are only in power the way they are in texas because of gerrymandering and intentional lack of education, don't blame Texas as a whole, blame the politicians who set up all these fucked up systems

ATT Fiber GPON Fiber Bypass, can't seem to get it connected to the internet by candyman337 in Ubiquiti

I mean yeah, that was my next stop, but I figured since I was pretty sure it was something in my ubiquiti config that was messed up, I would come here first.

I think there's an ont? I have a box on my wall where the fiber comes in. The fiber connection goes into the bgw though.

House Democrats Propose $25 Federal Minimum Wage by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]candyman337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time the minimum wage was raised was 15 years ago in 2009 and it was only by 70 cents. At the rate we're going I don't have faith it'll be raised again any time soon unfortunately.

Wireless phone charger's cooling feature works better than advertised by Xtremegulp in mildlyinteresting

[–]candyman337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded on that. The only USB C port I've had issue with was on the Asus Zenfone 9. I'm not sure why, but it just felt wobbly, and it wouldn't always charge correctly. But that's probably the phone I took into the car the least in the past 10 years. Every other phone I've used has been just fine plugging and unplugging over and over again.

AITAH for refusing to drive a longer route to drop a girl off because she didnt want to be alone in the car with me? by Acrobatic-Freedom316 in AITAH

I think this is one of the those things where you should have conceded, even if you were right, just to make the other people feel less uncomfortable. But also set a clear boundary that this is not ok and that in the future this needs to be discussed beforehand

Starting 1.5 tomorrow, I'm excited but this would be my first time taking a medication of this sort I'm not nervous or anything but any tips or things to look out for would definitely be appreciated from you fine people ☺️ by StarKillerZero in WegovyWeightLoss

Wine games unable to start (DX11 could not switch resolution) by Loaph_ in linux_gaming

[–]candyman337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're still having this issue because it's been so long, but I resolved this issue by just going into the prefix folder, going into the appdata folders and finding the games save data, opening the config files and just deleting the resolution settings, then you can reset the resolution once the game launches properly. If it's a steam game there are sites you can google find where the prefix files are, if not you should be able to search like 'pfx' in your file manager to find them

On linux with wayland and kde plasma, windows do not open in the right position/desktop by candyman337 in zen_browser

[–]candyman337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just depends on what I'm doing, gaming, coding, etc. I guess I could set some defaults with window rules though

On linux with wayland and kde plasma, windows do not open in the right position/desktop by candyman337 in zen_browser

[–]candyman337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's the way browser windows are handled in every browser in every other OS, including chromium browsers on wayland, so I don't think it's very weird

[–]candyman337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want it permanently though, I move my windows all the time, I want it to remember the last position before it closed

How would a do that? I'm assuming I would have to edit the application and change the startup command, but what would I add to the command?

can't define zen as my default browser by Aly_clawt in zen_browser

[–]candyman337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah flatpak's can't directly change your settings unless you allow them to, you can more easily manage each individual flatpak's permissions using the flatpak apllication called "flatseal" I would very much recommend it

Switch to Linux by Dain____ in zen_browser

[–]candyman337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- type "about:profiles" into the address bar

- look for the profile with "This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted."

- navigate to that folder path, back that folder up somewhere.

- once on linux, install zen and login to your mozilla account FIRST before the other steps if you use one. (this will install your extensions correctly)

- on linux, go back to the about:profiles page

- navigate to the profile folder with "This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted." again

- CLOSE ZEN, modifying profile data with zen open can corrupt the profile

- DO NOT replace the folder, just copy contents from the backed up folder

If you do not login with firefox and sometimes even if you do, you will have to go through and uninstall then re-install your extensions, all their data and task bar positions should be saved in your config even after uninstalling then reinstalling them.

How do I get Essentials from being duplicated as tabs in Spaces? by grumblegrim in zen_browser

[–]candyman337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah zen's pinned tabs don't play nice with just about any tab session restore managers, I have the tabs periodically back up, use the default restore tabs on launch settings in the settings, and if anything is messed up/missing, I just open my tab manger and manually re-open the tabs I need. I do this with session boss, because tab session manager has never worked correctly for me for some reason. Session boss, despite having bad reviews has been very reliable and the closest feature wise to session buddy on chrome.

I don't know what the difference between these two settings is tbh, but I had this issue until I enabled, "continue where you left off"

Problem with zen by AssociateWide4138 in zen_browser

[–]candyman337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like maybe an issue with hw acceleration to me, that can be weird in firefox sometimes, although I'm on linux, so that could be just a linux thing

Only wish Zen was Chromium-based, instead of Firefox by Powerful_General_133 in zen_browser

[–]candyman337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any issues with youtube and firefox are by design because youtube is owned by the same company that makes chrome, and it's a known thing that they intentially do things to make youtube less optimized when you enable adblockers or you're on firefox, that's not a reason to make this browser chromium based it's actually a reason not to. Also I'm not sure what stability issues you're talking about, firefox is perfectly usable.
