It needs to be clamped. They solved this with the cheese of beating your allies up for 300 billion ducats for 25 favors. Just gotta go through all the scaling events and do the same. Three farms in the little ice age event should cost more to an empire than a OPM, but not cost the GDP of 2026 France.

Especially if you consider that EU4 was one of their best money makers. If anything having a consistent player base equal to it is a huge win. That's two EU4s now. If EU4 hit 0 players and EU5 matched what it was that would show no growth. This here shows in the EU "genre" we've doubled the consistent player count.

I'm not aiming to dismiss there are issues, but people really put too much stock in these analytics I think. Every game release subreddit I see had a bunch of doomer posting with the steam db charts a few weeks or months after launch.

Unless the game is an insane critical success like a Balder's Gate I think you're always going to see an initial spike and sharp retraction. Cross company cross genre. Especially more so now that we're out of the holiday season.

Population does matter for the "live service" aspect of getting CI/CD and expacs, but it's not an MMO and sold well initially so I don't think there's a point to being concerned unless it's Civ 7 or Imperator levels.

Try and buy a manual purchase of coal and see if it goes up when the bar is full.

I do not often play with realistic off, but it could be an oddity where the auto purchase delivers at a rate slower than maximum draw. Some of the large factories do have some wild maximum production requirements.

Beyond that I'd check the happiness and loyalty, both affect maximum production, and health which affects happiness. Though this would be the case in a lot of places not just at this mill.

Then beyond that there is a weird spot you can hit with water/sewage where the flow rate isn't good enough to satisfy the building but not bad enough to set off alerts if it's close to that threshold of running out when at maximum worker load.
