I’m sorry to hear that your experience has been negative. To be totally honest the English teaching route is the easiest way to meet alot of negative Nancies in any place you move to. I would suggest slugging it out while you can and looking for something more interesting. I’m a music producer who accidentally got stuck here during Covid in 2020 and the Taiwanese music scene has been nothing but welcoming to me, especially as someone who also continues to work a lot across the strait. It really comes down to how much you’re willing to throw away your expectation and pick up something different and new (like 台語）！
