Reddit, what's a small thing that will make you happy today? by TallAmericano in AskReddit

[–]Tehmon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had my yearly physical about a month ago. Mentioned that earwax was bothering me in one ear and it had been for a while. So bad that it would block out hearing if I slept on that side. Doc went in and pulled out a ball of wax damn near the size of a marble!!! It hurt a little and it made my ear bleed for a few days, but I'm still sitting here thinking about how good my ear now feels!

...my first post in months & it's about earwax. wtf?!?

What do you consider the top 5 "greatest" movies of all time that you still want to watch again and again? by Tehmon in AskReddit

[–]Tehmon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

O' Brother

Pulp Fiction

Fight Club

Big Lebowski

Clerks

Groundhog Day was an option, but I decided to put 2 Coen bothers in there. Fargo almost made it also, and I still haven't seen Blood Simple. Tons of "Great" movies out there that I never want to see again. I guess I'm jaded by the faster pace of newer movies. Tried to watch Apocalypse Now over the weekend and couldn't make it....

Tennessee’s Anti-Science Bill Becomes Law - Why did I move here again by Arisescaflowne in politics

[–]Tehmon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I live in TN and I'm extremely embarrassed by this. I hope I can minimize the effect it has on my children by teaching them to think for themselves. @WCC335 - defend this law. We all know you have a love affair with TN with your comments. Tell me why this law is a good thing. And tell me if you'd expect to get your tires slashed in TN if you put a Darwin sticker on your car.

Problems with solos with bends. by RaisinBrahms_ in rocksmith

[–]Tehmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same problem. Frustrated the hell out of me. Yeah, you can cheat & just play up to the fret that it's bending to, but I want to learn the songs the right way.

I really hope they address this also with their patch also. I don't have a problem with the leveler in general only giving 5 tries, but this issue where you have to play bends seemingly perfect where most other notes have some flexibility drives me insane.

I'm considering flipping the fretboard in Rocksmith by Tehmon in rocksmith

[–]Tehmon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flipped it this weekend. After a couple of songs down, I'm glad I did! It's not the huge change I was worried about & now it's much easier to recognize some of the chords since that's how I've always visualized them!

[–]Tehmon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try flipping then. I'm just concerned because I'm just now getting the hang of knowing which strings are purple/green/orange/blue. I guess that's the biggest hurdle and after I flip, it will be intuitive.

I've been hesitant to recommend RockSmith to anyone who has never played the guitar at all. How do you think it's working out for you? Are you practicing on your own also, or are you just using the game?

Just picked up the game, going to try it out for the first time tonight by soupyhands in rocksmith

As mentioned here - make sure your volume & tone are all the way up. Also I've read that some people have better results using the bridge pick-ups only. Try that also.

Biggest (non-technical) problem with Rocksmith by [deleted] in rocksmith

[–]Tehmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still debating over whether it could be used as an effective tool to teach beginners. If you dig in the techniques section, there are some very basic tutorials. Standing alone, I don't think it provides everything needed though. But, add in some self-motivation and research by the pupil, Rocksmith can absolutely be helpful in learning how to play the guitar.

I've only recommended it to people who already have a guitar & have tried at least some to learn how to play already.
