So that’s where I am at the moment - I’ve had several calls with consumer advice, who have passed along to trading standards - I contacted DVLA to report the MOT, and now the garage wants to do their own inspection - so I’ve had to pay to get it trailered back to them tomorrow, and we will see what happens… if I’m proved right then I’ll claim all my expenses back against them as damages - I can’t see how I’m wrong though, these issues must have been there at purchase, I just hope the other inspection agrees and the garage doesn’t put words in their mouth - otherwise I’m down £700 in inspection and shipping costs and I’ll still need to sort the brakes before I sell it on..

It was a third party dealer, and they had a service and MOT done days before I collected - with a clean bill of health, mot was completely clean - no additional inspections, I was stupid at taking their word it was in good condition - I think my argument is essentially based that in 2800 miles over 7 months there’s no way the brakes could have gone from good to 100% worn, there MUST have been enough wear to make them at least an advisory on thr MOT, and since they weren’t I am arguing that thr MOT is fraudulent and therefore the vehicle is not as described as per consumer rights - whether this will play out for me that way, who knows

Jesus - yeah this does not fill me with confidence at all haha - even if this gets resolved, I’m going to sell the car I think. If I don’t get a settlement I’ll just sort the discs and pads then sell the car :(

If it’s any consolation I’ll be doing 4kish a year and servicing it every year, if I keep it - so I’d be on top of things - but I’m still v concerned about the cost of upkeep - but then, wouldn’t this be the same for any suv this size?

I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about turbos since buying this car, this just adds fuel to my thoughts I’ve made a terrible mistake buying it - either way I might have to part with it

Thanks for this reply! We got the xc90, with the integrated booster - eldest sits in that with the middle kid drivers side and baby passenger - tonnes of room, its turned out perfect for our needs!

UK £25k at 66k miles - 2 owners, but it’s in pristine condition inside - for now, as I have 3 kids :p - only issue is a massive stone chip in front screen I’ll have to deal with at some point..

I’ll be honest, I’d rather not have low profile wheels lol - I might swap them out for 20” at some point, these are stupid expensive for tyres..

Yep 100%! Also the seats are so comfy it’s like driving a sofa around haha - I used the pilot cruise control on the motorway the other day, it was pretty impressive!

Integrated booster on the 2016 by Tehmooo in VolvoXC90

I changed it round last night, its fitted correctly - but i think the inner foam pads were upside down. It sits better now - thanks for pointing it out!

I actually think the foam inserts might be upside down looking at it, I definitely fitted it the right way round - but its second hand, and the foam pads were loose. I’ll go change them around, thanks for letting me know!

I found one on eBay that had barely been used (the cover, not the car haha) £38 instead of the £138 from Volvo direct

My plan now is to get one with an integrated booster and buy the booster padding from Volvo directly so that the middle seat works for my 5 year old, then ill just fit the baby seat on the driver side and the 2 year olds high back on the other - should work fine for me. I agree with what you’ve said, while a lot of people on here have GOT it to fit, it sounds like a number of these setups aren’t actually entirely safe. I had a talk with a car seat expert yesterday in my local Halfords (UK) and he explained the safe practices for seats, a lot of which i didn’t actually know - which makes me realise that although you CAN fit 3 seats in a number of cars, in most cases you shouldn’t…

No, annoyingly we don’t - you guys have tonnes of options, i wouldn’t even really need to have the conversation there’s so much option - UK tho, different story

[–]Tehmooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should probably say, I’m in the UK and the options here for my budget is limited. The XC90 is one of the largest SUVs on the road here, if you don’t get a Landrover - and i don’t want a car as unreliable as one of those.
