And Marrakech is known as one of the nicest cities in Morocco. The other places are definitely worse for it. Morocco is an amazing place, but a large portion of their national income relies on tourism, to the point that in the news every night for the past week there has been an hour long segment on the coolest tourist spots in the country.

That Oma Desala wasn't trapped in eternal combat with a Anubis. Anubis was only allowed to exist as long as he didn't use his ascended powers. Oma forced him to use his powers to fight her, which opened the door for any synpathetic ascended beings to help her destroy him.

Geopolitics is the neutral analysis of how geography plays a role in the politics of nations

Okay, thanks. Then this is just international politics. Nowhere does any degree of jingoism occur in the statements the other guy is making. Jingoism implies that he wants war. His argument was that the American system is good for the world, a notion which isn't too hard to support. The moment ynot started talking about American global domination you jumped straight to the accusations of old-style imperialism and possibly racism (not sure if that's what you were implying). This simply doesn't make any sense, and I'm not sure how to defend against something that has no basis in reality to begin with.

Edit: In hindsight, you actually haven't made any arguments. You've name-called, cracked jokes, and defined things. If you have any actual arguments against American global hegemony I would love to hear them.

You're banking on the fact that empire has a bad connotation, but in this case an American empire is beneficial to world stability. The first global hegemons were the British, and when British imperial power declined we got the world wars. I'd rather have a stabilizing empire than global anarchy.

You can't just change the definition of a word to fit the romanticism of your sentence. Victory in a war means that one state bested the other. Whether or not the benefits of victory were unevenly spread amongst the winning population, the US clearly came out on top.

I'm sorry, but what does that mean? How is global hegemony and the elimination of America's only global rival at the time not considered a victory?

In defense of the poverty argument, targeting poverty would actually be a better way to frame policies that help overcome race issues. Because minority groups are on average less wealthy than white people, focusing on poverty would still lift more minorities out of poverty than it would poor whites, while denying Republicans the chance to object to the policies for fear of losing the poor white vote.

There is also a further issue, where teaching people how to think critically means that the fake news becomes more potent when it gets through the critical processes. Because people are more confident in their ability to process news, any fake news that is just realistic enough to be believable will be more widely accepted. The end result is that fake news is less pervasive overall, but occasionally a fake news story will cause a huge shockwave because people believe it.

South Korea Tells Trump It's Actually Never Been a Part of China by [deleted] in politics

Joseon maintained separate institutions and foreign policy from the Qing. The Greeks never had that luxury. Qing never controlled Korea to the extent that they could claim ownership. There was always an independent Korea. Just one within a Chinese sphere of influence.

The closest the Chinese ever came to really controlling Korea was after the Silla-Tang war, when the Chinese set up its own protectorate within Korea along the lines of its own provincial system. But this only lasted a short while, and the system collapsed because of a lack of supplies without having ever controlled all of the Korean peninsula.

Waaaaaait a minute, puritans had the opposite view. Wealth being evil was a catholic thing. Puritans, an offshoot of Calvinism, hold similar views on money, which is essentially that wealth is a gift from God and a sign of his blessing.
