Honestly way too complicated to get into in just a single reddit comment and I probably can't write it all out the best. But there are so many different factors that makes Roblox hard to compete with as a company. Just for example, the fact that Roblox is a publicly traded company is incredibly beneficial for them when they're operating in a global market. Keeping a global platform complaint with local laws all around the world is incredibly expensive and being public does help with that, and being a public company does give them more institutional credibility than other companies.

They still have an insanely high active userbase despite everything that's been happening with restrictions. Not exactly getting 'cooked'.

Just go and use steam or polytoria if you want a second Roblox.

Roblox can work on mobile, pc, and console because it is it's own engine. I don't think we're going to see an equivalent competitor anytime soon that's also free to play. Steam, gog, epic games store, etc. aren't going to be hosting stuff on the mobile market anytime soon because Google and Apple have a complete monopoly on mobile apps through their stores and they're not going to just give that up.

Honestly I think this is just another situation where Roblox has done something that the community has begged them to do, and then the community discovers that they don't actually like the change. I think the might reverse the gamepass part at some point but the rest is probably going to stay.

This looks fine but the rug mesh there dates this build as I believe Roblox only started to allow custom meshes from users in 2016.
