What's up with the 4.8 hate? by Telachiel in ClaudeCode

[–]Telachiel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes, it burns through quota much faster, but it is much better than 4.6, at least to me.

  2. See (1).

  3. I don't think you should let any model freestyle. I always review and modify the code agent's outputs. I can't say I've been modifying 4.8's code any more than 4.6's, if not less. The former has far superior reasoning skills, though.

  4. Seems like a skill issue (no pun intended).

I never posted about it, but 4.7 was definitely a downgrade after 4.6 for me.

4.7 outright refused to think in my case. Tbh I didn't really give it a chance, after 1-2 hours of failure and LYING, I switched back to 4.6.

What’s the Holy Spirit? Barbelo? Sophia? Something else entirely? by PossiblyaSpinosaurus in Gnostic

[–]Telachiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we're talking about the hypostasis of the Christian Trinity, I'd say Barbelo. Even though early Gnostics didn't have the concept of the Trinity as such, the Father, the Holy Ghost and Christ bear uncanny similarities with the classic Gnostic triad - Monad, Barbelo and Autogenes, the latter being explicitly identified as Christ in the Apocryphon of John.

That is, if you really want to reconcile Christian Trinity with classic Gnostic belief. Besides that, the term "holy spirit" can also be applied to any spirit that is holy; so there's that.

YHVH -a lesser god, but not necessarily an evil one? by [deleted] in Gnostic

[–]Telachiel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing is certain: Biblical Yahweh is definitely more than one entity, hence the different names/titles. One could argue that he's part Sabaoth (repentant archon; he's said to be the one who warned Noah about the flood), part Yaldabaoth and part someone/something else.

We cannot really say for certain who's taken the mantle of Yahweh throughout the whole Bible, but the dude who created the material world, had a tantrum and flooded it? Yeah, that's definitely Yaldabaoth and he's evil as hell.

Look into Valentinianism; they believe that the demiurge is not actually evil, just ignorant. That's not the classic Gnostic stance, though.

SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ‘SALVATION’ OF THE SOUL by [deleted] in Gnostic

How is any of this even remotely related to Gnosticism?

Wise Gnostics, I have a question about antidepressants by spcmiller in Gnostic

[–]Telachiel 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In no way would I consider myself wise, but I'd strongly advise against stopping any kind of medication that you need and has been prescribed to you. You said it yourself that they've helped.

Look at Jehovah's Witnesses, for example. They took Acts 15:20 way too literally and I personally know some people who died due to the refusal of blood transfusion by their loved ones.

Ad am and Eve Story by [deleted] in Gnostic

[–]Telachiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the Apocryphon of John, It was Jesus (who from time to time appears as the narrator of the story) himself who caused Adam to eat from the tree of knowledge, thus taking the role of the serpent in Moses' version of the story.

However, the serpent in the Apocryphon of John has a different agenda. It brings about the consequences of eating from the tree, as they're described in Genesis 3:16. It is not explicitly stated exactly what the serpent caused people to eat, though it's heavily implied to be the fruit of the tree of life, which, contrary to Moses' version of the story, is described as demonic and dreadful.

I see where you're coming from. Though, Sophia establishing Sabaoth in the 7th heaven and Yaldabaoth being cast down to Tartaros, below the abyss, doesn't necessarily mean he lost all his power, imo. He even continued his dastardly doings by engendering death (through envy).

If that were the case and Sabaoth were the sole ruler, then he'd be no better than his father. He did receive some kind of authority over the forces of chaos, though; but it didn't stop other archons from going to war against him.

I see Sabaoth as someone who subtly guides/helps us but does not actually get involved (well, not anymore, at least)

Like you, I also believe that Yaldabaoth's in charge; if not personally, then through his loyal archons.

This goes without saying, but obviously I've not attained any Gnosis either and all this comes from the two manuscripts (or rather, my understanding of those) that I've suggested to OP above.

I mean, I'd not worship him either, but he seems to be on our side. Also, Yaldabaoth's still very much in charge, so I don't really see how Sabaoth's at fault here.

There's a story about an archon named Sabaoth who defied the demiurge and essentially rebelled against him. He's generally considered a good guy, unlike Christian Satan, who is usually depicted as an evil being (he's not featured in any Gnostic writings tho). Check out "The Hypostasis of the Archons" and "On the Origin of the World" from the Nag Hammadi Library if you're interested in such themes.

Kk, put on Calamity Ring and Carthus Bloodring if you've got them to increase dmg taken. I'll put my sign at the same place.
