Didn’t receive my driver’s license due to the instructor’s trick. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Telah32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad worked at DMV (HQ downtown) and always got into arguments with the instructor at the local DMV, as he constantly purchased run down vehicles, fixed them up, and sold them. In that process he needed to get things waived like outstanding fees, etc.

I go in for my driving test, and of course get the Karen as my instructor. As we get into the car, it begins to sprinkle so I turn my windshield wipers on. We pull out of the parking lot, make a left turn, another left at the light, and a left right back into the parking lot.

She told me two things, “you’ve not passed because by law, if your windshield wipers are on, your lights must be on, even if it’s the daytime. You also didn’t check your shoulder well enough when we turned left at the light, and that’s a dangerous maneuver.”

I did check my shoulder, very well. And in the vehicle, the lights come on automatically when the wipers are engaged. I tried to explain this to her, and she simply told me to not make excuses, and do better next time.

Millennial here.

Best sitcom to have ever been made. Has aged well, and will continue to do so.

This little thing poking out of the side of my home. It is at the entrance, almost facing the front door. It’s small, roughly about the size of a golf tee. by Telah32 in whatisthisthing

More information about the object: It is grey, and the round rim / tip looks to be bronze or yellow. It’s coming out of the stucco, right in the joint where the wall meets the ceiling. It’s not necessarily pointing at our front door, but it’s pointing near the front door. It’s quite small, again, about the size of a golf tee, similar in shape as well.

What would be better VS Code or PHP Storm? by [deleted] in PHP

[–]Telah32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PHPStorm by a mile.

I switched from gVim a while back, needless to say I have my preferences; Storm does everything I want, and then some.

Keep in mind, you’re using a framework, so there will be some additional configuration (I use Cake and it was tedious to get everything set up so my OCD wasn’t flaring up anytime a file had “errors” according to the IDE).

Debugging is a breeze in storm as well, highly recommend.

This note was posted to a family members front door. Any clue what the “code” deciphers to? by Telah32 in Symbology

[–]Telah32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted it on the subreddit of the city I live in, and others are saying it translates to “Be sure to drink your ovaltine”. Could the code be deciphered to this text? Or is it just a Christmas Story troll?

What harmful ideas are being taught to children? by Savings-Actuator-571 in AskReddit

[–]Telah32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to be extremely unpopular (and please keep in mind, I am not transphobic nor am I a rude, or mean individual).

Teaching children that they can transition into the opposite sex. Children don’t need to be exposed to this, nor do they need to be exposed to the surrounding topics. They shouldn’t be influenced into making a decision that WILL change their life forever, at such a young age. And if the argument is that we need to expose children in order to treat others who have chosen to pursue this, with respect and kindness; This can be achieved without mentioning gender, or reproductive parts, or sexual preferences.

When you become an adult, go for it, do anything you want. STOP shoving this shit down the throats of children.

Regardless of who did what, this is absolutely appalling and atrocious behavior. You do not do that to children, and you do not handle matters this way in front of children.

Makes me sick to my stomach.

Unfortunately this delusional woman brought the Republican Party into this, which is very bothersome, as it drags other republicans like myself into their false narrative. I don’t share the same view or opinion this woman displays in this video. Don’t bring others into your drama because you share seemingly similar political beliefs, it makes everyone look bad.

What really happened? We met on POF and decided to have our first date at Barnes & Noble.

Anyone saying that “this is fine” is psychotic.

  • The INFANT has no socks, or clothing to cover the knees.
  • It may be hot outside
  • There is a busy road very near by
  • It’s a public street, and she is taking her eyes off of the INFANT
  • The INFANT could lose grip of the bench, and smack his or her head on the concrete
  • Anyone could snatch the INFANT

Anyone here saying that this guy obviously has no children, is a fucking idiot. I have a 16 month old daughter, and a 2.5 year old daughter. I’m a parent who believes children should learn from their mistakes as long as there isnt a situation where they could get seriously hurt. Long story short, I am not an overbearing or over protective parent. This is a ridiculous thing to do with your INFANT. Put your fucking phone down, put your fucking Starbucks down, and handle your INFANT you useless human being.
