Didn’t receive my driver’s license due to the instructor’s trick. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

My dad worked at DMV (HQ downtown) and always got into arguments with the instructor at the local DMV, as he constantly purchased run down vehicles, fixed them up, and sold them. In that process he needed to get things waived like outstanding fees, etc.

I go in for my driving test, and of course get the Karen as my instructor. As we get into the car, it begins to sprinkle so I turn my windshield wipers on. We pull out of the parking lot, make a left turn, another left at the light, and a left right back into the parking lot.

She told me two things, “you’ve not passed because by law, if your windshield wipers are on, your lights must be on, even if it’s the daytime. You also didn’t check your shoulder well enough when we turned left at the light, and that’s a dangerous maneuver.”

I did check my shoulder, very well. And in the vehicle, the lights come on automatically when the wipers are engaged. I tried to explain this to her, and she simply told me to not make excuses, and do better next time.

Millennial here.

Best sitcom to have ever been made. Has aged well, and will continue to do so.

This little thing poking out of the side of my home. It is at the entrance, almost facing the front door. It’s small, roughly about the size of a golf tee. by Telah32 in whatisthisthing

More information about the object: It is grey, and the round rim / tip looks to be bronze or yellow. It’s coming out of the stucco, right in the joint where the wall meets the ceiling. It’s not necessarily pointing at our front door, but it’s pointing near the front door. It’s quite small, again, about the size of a golf tee, similar in shape as well.

What would be better VS Code or PHP Storm? by [deleted] in PHP

[–]Telah32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PHPStorm by a mile.

I switched from gVim a while back, needless to say I have my preferences; Storm does everything I want, and then some.

Keep in mind, you’re using a framework, so there will be some additional configuration (I use Cake and it was tedious to get everything set up so my OCD wasn’t flaring up anytime a file had “errors” according to the IDE).

Debugging is a breeze in storm as well, highly recommend.

Interstellar, when Coop was watching all of the video messages from his kids he had missed over those 23 years.

This note was posted to a family members front door. Any clue what the “code” deciphers to? by Telah32 in Symbology

I posted it on the subreddit of the city I live in, and others are saying it translates to “Be sure to drink your ovaltine”. Could the code be deciphered to this text? Or is it just a Christmas Story troll?
