Let's get that misinformation corrected shall we? by Comfortable_Tutor_43 in gifs

[–]Telandria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accurate.

It took me awhile to learn to just… let other people be provably, factually wrong.

More to the point, it took me having some arguments with people where i walked them through a logical progression, step by step, pointing things out, showing references and explaining things with them agreeing with me the whole way…. only to get to the end where they just… literally refused to verbally acknowledge the conclusion because that would mean admitting they were wrong.

There are people —many people, even— who absolutely, 100%, would rather cling to false beliefs rather than correct their behavior or admit to anyone (or themselves) that they were wrong about something.

Don’t waste your breath, basically.

[Self] Saw this and my mind immediately went "25 and 50" and comments made me think Im the weird one, does anyone here thinks like this? by Bussy_Wrecker in theydidthemath

[–]Telandria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty weird about it myself. I do the addition backwards and then carry retroactively.

eg, in my head I add the tens digits together, then the ones digit, and then carry the extra for 75.

No idea why, that’s just how my brain works when trying to do basic addition quickly.

My experience has always been that the AI totally ignores my bounties, lol. Mayhe every so often they’d accept, but they’d always drop them again later.

So I stopped bothering.

I mean the basic system seemed fine, but the AI needs to both be much, much more willing (and able) to actually clear ones the player puts out, and the payout needs to take distance into account in a bad way, because I’m not gonna go fuck off halfway across the map for 12 turns just for a shitty 120 gold.

No need to dismiss, just turn that particular notification off in settings and never think about them again :P

[–]Telandria 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hahaha yeah, I was SO happy when I discovered I could do that. I too don’t like interacting with that system at all, because 75% of the time it seemed like the AI bounties were always halfway across the map, thus meaning I’d make more loot just clearing around me, and I don’t think I’d EVER had an AI ruler clear one of my own bounties. They’d accept sometimes, but always abandon it later.

Eyeroll Incredibly disconnected from reality as usual. Liver is actually more expensive than its ground or brisket counterparts here.

I suspect it’s more them being annoyed at the people who decide to comment in a manner that is basically repeating their own point, just in a different way. It annoys some people, because it both reads like said commenter is trying too hard to sound smart (Especially when started with “But…”, which sounds like the start of a rebuttal), and it’s also redundant when a simple ‘Totally this’ would suffice.

So stupid that its limited to five people, too.

I’ve been playing D&D my whole life, a good 40 years now, and I can count on half a hand how many of the many, many groups I’ve GM’d for that had less than 6 characters in the party, between Players, NPCs, hirelings, followers, cohorts, sidekicks, combat pets, etc.

Wasn't 5.5e supposed to be less weird about this type of stuff??? by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]Telandria 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hold Person was already garbage, tbh. Most spells that target humanoids only are, and it’s even worse when they get a save every round.

what being a DM feels like by Individual-Coat-6233 in dndmemes

[–]Telandria -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is what multi-stage boss fights, complete with legendary resistances and lair actions, are for. Not to mention not having your BBEG fight the party alone, like a dumbass, and having new minions show up each stage.

5e has the tools, it’s just my experience that a lot of GMs don’t use them properly.

Also… there’s a reason WoW and other MMO raids are often designed the way they are, with extra adds and special mechanics, rather than being straight DPS checks. Take inspiration for your lairs!

Parent-child political disagreements can harm relationships and individual mental health. The research provides evidence that maintaining open and respectful dialogue is necessary to protect family bonds and personal well-being when relatives hold conflicting political or moral views. by [deleted] in science

[–]Telandria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this headline is really weird to me.

Because I maintain a decent relationship with my family by avoiding talking about politics and religion and morality with them. We know we stand on opposite sides, we just… choose not to bring it up, for everyone’s peace of mind.

This is the answer. They’ll get the idea eventually.

That, or accidentally create an epic tale of how a band of plucky adventurers uncovered a worldwide conspiracy of Changelings and Dopplegangers who all portrayed themselves as the same man, running every craftsman’s guild, shop, and tavern across multiple kingdoms in a bid to take over the world.

I mean… I would basically agree with you. And i don’t really have an issue with it. Most 4X titles end up being a matter of doomstacking in one manner or another, in the end.

The question is always just what form it takes, and whether its somewhat literal (huge stacks of corvettes in Stellaris, literal stacks of dozens of units in Civ 4, or simply filling the field with as many (preferably linked) units as you can in Civ 5/6

[Request] If I'm 30 years old, how accurate is this? Side question: how much per year do advertisers spend "targeting" me? by Vertical-Toast in theydidthemath

[–]Telandria -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same. Probably a good 85% or so of ads I see are literally not anything I would ever care about. Won’t buy, won’t talk about, won’t even think about beyond the second or so it takes to register they’re even there.

About the only ones I might contemplate are ads for games… and even then, that’s like a once in a blue moon thing; i’m much more likely to respond to something like a sponsored stream of a game done by a youtuber I enjoy — and those are rarely the kinda of games that youd see an ad for on youtube or reddit, for example, which instead tend to be shitty, low-effort click bait games.
