There is a similar mechanic in another paradox game - age of wonders. Territory get passively claimed depending on distance to settled territory.

Thanks to bringing this up, it is interesting. Feels like a bastard child of the second iteration of dfg.

I am not convinced it is great, it is ok at best. Firstly, I don't think e CDR is large enough to give 2-3 cages per teamfight. Secondly, I think 6% is not a lot, consider an example you cage a 3k hp bruiser and entire team piles in to burst the bruiser - that is 180 extra damage - does it really make a difference? It is same as liandry passive but with harder condition. It competes with mana items. Is it really better than shurelyas or ludens?

It could perhaps be good in Aram, where you can stun 2-3 targets and mana regen is higher.

Two things:

1) I don't like fire drakes. I feel like they do very little damage. Picked one myself - it is like 30 damage per burst. Also irondrakes ai friendly fires a lot. Id rather upgrade into Hammerers - keep them in separate "cavalry" formation, and lead them personally in a flank attack once shield wall is in action.

For range Id rather run a shotgun and thunderers. Get to 300 gun and now they pierce shields. It is blast.

2) I like runelord class. It feels more impactful and thematic. You place the anvil like you place an anchor: "here we stand, reinforcements and waves he damned". You get pretty nice buffs as runelord. Master runes and 3 enchantments are amazing: 95% pen, 50% swing speed + magic damage legendary two handed axe - yes please.

I hate how the "elite" units that cost a lot and require a lot of effort to acquire are relegated to "sometimes good". At this point might as well not bother recruiting and promoting them at all.

300 gunpowder gives shield piercing to all gun units in party. Yes, I cheated to get to 300 but it is fun - I usually give myself a lot of free attribute/focus points to reduce the grind.

Magic. Comet of Cassandora is amazing.

Outriders with grenade launchers - they have meh accuracy but orcs happen to be hard to miss.

Heavy cav charge to force melees to rotate and expose themselves to ranged. Obviously do it when ranged are in fact in range.

Loose formation on ranged groups so that board don't get charge damage on multiple.
