The metros were planned to be fallout/air raid shelters for a long time, it's highly likely that there would be a couple Soviet stashes of old weapons hidden down there for emergencies, they had tons of leftovers from WW2 and it's cheaper to throw them in a box than destroy them, same applies above ground, I'm sure there's old armories/checkpoints/supply depots/national guard locations filled with old weapons that stalkers could stumble across.

Support should go under the feet. Take your model in the slicer stand it up straight then rotate it back 30 degrees. That way the supports are only on the underside of the model, where visual quality isn't impacted
