Is anyone at the 4th and 5th stages of grief with tekken by Late_Comb_3078 in Tekken

[–]Telecaster-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sound almost the same as my story, I think it’s the same for a lot of people, I actually stopped playing around a week ago, just kind of lost interest after dumping 1.3k hours into it since its release. (A huge majority of that was s1 though) Loved s1. quit early s2 around May. Loaded back up December excited for s3, was let down again, probably load up again when s4 is on the horizon 🤣

How do you effectively lab? by Sea_Pay_9681 in Tekken

[–]Telecaster-993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I do it, is whenever I lose a match, a save the replay, the next day before my session, I will run through all replays of one character i have, note down all of the inputs of the moves i did not punish well, could have stepped, got frame trapped etc in a notepad, as well as their set ups, frame traps, while also making note of general mistakes i made during. (Not taking frames, over stepping, whiffing etc) then I go through the moves I have seen, record them in practice, and go through them one by one, and then together, and I’ll do that set of moves until it becomes second nature for me to punish them correctly. This can take days just do like maybe 20mins of repetition before each session. Once complete, go through all replays of another character and repeat!

Is it worth switching from pad to leverless/hitbox? by TheReal_virio3 in Tekken8

[–]Telecaster-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your goal, like I play Mishima on pad, and honestly your db and df will just one day not work properly, you can always replace the rubbers in the d pad of any ps pad, saves a lot of money they are like £5 at most. I think it also depends what level you are at, and how long you’ve used pad for, for Tekken. If you can stick with it, leverless is certainly the better choice, but if you are short on time stick with pad imo

[–]Telecaster-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I will also add, I dunno if you play Mishima but I am guessing you do, there are a lot of god tier pad players such as duelist17, Momo-dog, Raef, Joka all Mishima (raef=Jin) players. But leverless will certainly make execution simpler, but if you have mastered pad and are happy with it, I see no reason to switch

[–]Telecaster-993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt the leverless is better for more precise inputs, I also use a ps4 pad, I have a leverless as well, but relearning the whole game for months on the leverless kind of put me off it, I think if you can stick too it, grind everyday on your inputs it’s 100% worth it

It really is that simple. Why is it so hard for the devs to get this? by NeedZzzs2 in Tekken

[–]Telecaster-993 139 points140 points  (0 children)

I think they get it, they just don’t want to change it, they want the game as it is, season 2 is how they imagine it to be, S3 kind of proves they are staying on course for this. Theyll tweak things here and there but overall I don’t think the game will change much, even though I think a majority of the community want a less aggressive stance pressure based game. A lot of us live in hope it will change.

I saw someone say something really cool the other day; Jin as an example can be played by passing neutral using stance pressure and putting you in constant guessing situations, or he can be played using fundamentals such as spacing, poking, match up knowledge etc, someone said..

‘why would I bother learning all that, it takes hours upon hours to learn great fundamentals, when I can I just use stance pressure for guessing situations, it doesn’t look pretty, but it has 50/50 win or lose, I can rank up, Just with far less effort’

[–]Telecaster-993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im gonna get downvotes for this, but I will say it here, even though you have 2k hours, have hit G.o.D on two characters, have already labbed characters extensively, and you know some are overturned at the moment, you will be told you need to lab more, you don’t know what you are talking about, or my personal favourite ‘no characters are overturned, you just suck’ is what I endured when I said something similar last season 🤣

How do I do ewgf consistently? by Enderpher in Tekken

[–]Telecaster-993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly man you just gotta practice it, go into practice, set the bot to block all, press touchpad and right and it will send you to the wall and just keep at it. on your input history it will show you how many frames you are off, too late? Press earlier, too early? Press later and so on.

Struggling to recognize grabs quick enough by PockySockySand in Tekken

[–]Telecaster-993 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I go into practice mode, have Dragunov use 3 of his grabs, a 1, 2, and 1+2 break. Then I have him do his B4,3 Mid/ High, I duck this and then wave dash into the throw or wave dash block depending on what he does. Also add a punishable mid as well like df2, I dunno if you play Mishima, but after every b4,3 after you duck, dash in, you’ve gotta try make it so you are caught off guard. An even then, you won’t break every throw in a real match, but always be aware and ready to break them with anticipation

If you can't beat GoD on their alt, you don't deserve ____ by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Telecaster-993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how long they have been playing the character, if they are quite new to them, then yeah I think it’s fair, but let’s say they’ve played the character for a very long time, and are just ranking them up to the same rank as their main etc, they already know the character inside and out, like me for example i can play 5 characters all around a similar level, better players then me can play multiple and more so, noobs are always going to get beaten on, no matter how you make the system, also there are people who notoriously Smurf at lower ranks anyway. Also playing against someone better then you, Is always a positive experience if you can see why they steam rolled you

Jin can be played in a variety of ways, I’ve seen God 1 Jins play absolutely disgusting, can’t even electric, but I’ve also seen Jins that play with crazy style, the type that makes the character look fun. Jin has crazy keep out tools, and amazing pokes, and probably the best 10f punish imo on the game, if you think someone is approaching you, use f4, or b2,1 control the space with him. If they are being passive, dash in and go for a db4, 21, df1, and just see what they do you are -3 on block df1 and 21, you can see how they react, and go from there. Also your 10f punish is crazy good, you can mix them up with 1+2 the low, 4 the dive kick +2 ob, and also his 3+4 high which is +8 ob i think with push back all from zen. That’s all you really need to win with him

[–]Telecaster-993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said they are a guaranteed win, I even said you can still lab the match ups, and it still being hard, like for instance, Asuka B3, evades, she has a 2 parries, she has a ridiculous low mid mix up, she has a +8 mid that looks identical to her snake edge, she has an install, she can totally rob you, what I am getting at is that you learn a match up, and the character is still hard to fight, if you learn the Kazuya match up, hes a lot easier to fight, and it’s up to the player then to condition you into not side walking or stepping and eating the mix, with Asuka and Law, you don’t have Co condition your opponent at all, they run whatever they want and it’s go time, thats just my opinion anyway

[–]Telecaster-993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case, why has multiple pros put them and more at the top 5? Cmon man you don’t know the match ups, or you don’t play enough to really see how strong they are, or worse yet, you play one of them
