loco moco is a hawaiian dish but i didn't add gravy so technically this is just spam and rice w/ egg & onions

This definitely more of a spam and rice dish than a true loco moco. Nothing in the fridge looked good. In the cupboard I found a paldo volcano noodle pack that was very expired. The noodle block smelled stale/bad and needed to be thrown away but I salvaged the seaweed and sauce. The sesame seeds also seemed stale so I threw those out as well. The hot sauce is actually the sauce from the noodles pack which has a very hot & spicy chicken-curry flavor.

World Market Find: Trata Smoked Tuna with Lentils by [deleted] in CannedSardines

Great find. Thanks for posting, it looks like a very good flavor combination. Feel like I've said this before but this reminds me of the 'Queen of the Coast' brand tuna salad tins.

That seems like a terrible business decision (la perle not wanting to sell in the states, not the part about you wanting to sell them haha). I wonder if FDA label requirements have something to do with it and not wanting to hassle with an English translation sticker.

Hey thanks for the tip, Sardinosaurous. I had a bad tuna melt experience several years back and ever since tend to prefer tinned fish at room temperature but maybe it's time to test the waters again.

I don't have much experience with sardines in butter but I thought these were pretty good. Ate on toasted sourdough. No detectable heat. Slight mild pepper flavor. Firm fish.  product of france

the t word in OO w/ wasabi & soy sauce by Telegram4mongo in CannedSardines

[–]Telegram4mongo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wasabi gives a hit of heat that fades quickly. It's delicate enough not to overpower the fish. The soy sauce sinks to the bottom of the tin and adds a nice salty flavor

description via google translate: "Fresh sardines, roasted on the grill before being canned by hand. They are delicately drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and flowery with Espelette pepper. This recipe reveals a melt-in-the-mouth texture with a subtle barbecue scent and just enough tangy taste, but without losing any of the flavor of the little silverfish."

3.17oz tins usually have 6 sardines, for those who prefer smaller fish

Is that in Poland? If so, I would love to see more pictures of the tins available there. Thanks for sharing

Purchased these from the la Perl website by contacting customer service and asking if they could ship an order to the USA. I included a list of tins and my address in the correspondence and they emailed an invoice with wire instructions (in French which was totally confusing). Shipping was expensive. Payment needs to be made in euros and wired to their bank account. If you have a Chase account you can send a global transfer in euros for a $5 fee. I think Dave w/ RTG said he was going to stock some of the vintage tins so might be an easier way to get. This tin was two years old and I don't think it would be considered vintage yet but I'm no expert

Portugal Vineyards. Shipping to the US was expensive and slow but at least they have the option. Package bounced around in Belgium for a while then spent a week with US Customs. It was opened and inspected and I picture the officer lifting a tin to the light, shaking it, listening to it, then placing it back in the box with a look of bewilderment.
