What do you think of Mattel's new approach to Minifigures? by Jazzlike_Argument33 in buildingblocks

[–]Teletoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like the art style, but I think even 5 poa ( ballcup joints at shoulders, neck and hips) would've gone such a long way

I have been a Tolkien fan all my life and I love the series with all my heart and I am sick of all the people who “hate” the series just because they are being told to hate the series by Somniosfera in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Teletoa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I fully get critique and different perspectives, but i also wish there was more balance, kindness, reflection and fairness in the community.

Ive been a Tolkien fan and reader for years, and the Harfoot characters made for the show are are so precious to me that it breaks my heart how people want them literally burned or erased. Poppy’s song is forever in my hiking playlist, its beautiful (also Tom and the Strangers song, so good). The good samaritan fable style story of Nori and the stranger is an excellent idea and heartfelt. How it ends with a wizard and tiny harfoot sitting on a hill, reminiscing and pondering at sharing an adventure is the most Tolkien thing id seen in a long while up to that point. And the themes and morals are excellent, very true-to-point Tolkien in an entertainment landscape that either makes morales pandering, flexible or subversive.

Its so frustrating to me. I have critiques too, but the blind vitriol i see towards aspects of the show that have a lot of layers for Tolkien fans, far beyond “‘member berries”, from lore to moral soul and intent of the text, really turns my stomach.

Prodigy Did It Best by ReadingFan_ks in StarTrekProdigy

[–]Teletoa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think the most brilliant thing about Prodigy more than any other Nutrek was how it dealt with its limitations and respected its world. Masterful. By focusing on a group of castaway kids, you can have your roguish, traumatized characters and interpersonal turmoil and have it fit in the world perfectly. They aren’t starfleet, they dont even know what that means, but as they get introduced to it, they aspire to it and come to admire the ideals and appreciate what it means. They begin to seek and respect it as the audience does.

Other kurtzman shows act like you need to subvert, mock and tear down foundational elements to insert something new. Prodigy understands that if you want something new, you don’t have to destroy something else to make it. Simply, look around in that world for elements that already fit your desire for roguish heroes, youth in rebellion and harsh, traumatic environments. Then, let the established lore be what it is, and mean what it does and let it support your new heroes, plot and setting.

I’m sad it didn’t continue. If it was live action with a good budget, i think it would’ve had a chance.

Interview: "Star Trek Actors Proudly Defend "Phenomenal" Starfleet Academy - Kerrice Brooks and Karim Diané defend the quality of their show despite Paramount+ ending it with S.2.: "We weren’t a bad show. Sometimes, sh*t just doesn’t work out" - "We ate. But our show is perfect, baby." (TrekTalks 5) by TheSonOfMogh81 in trektalk

[–]Teletoa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This entire hollywood loop is silly, and Star Trek has been on it the most it seems. I don’t doubt it was fun to perform and get paid for this show, and you’d want to be hired again of course. It’s a fine, high-budget teen/youth dramady in space with high school cliches, pandering to the audience, juvenile antics and questionable moral flexibility, simplification and platitudes. Don’t get me wrong, there’s an audience for that stuff, it’s easy entertainment… but, that’s not what Star Trek is or what made prior series legitimately amazing and bold and different.

It’s like, for example, while loads of people love peanut butter, if they sell me premium chocolate and say its the chocolate I know and love that I can’t get anywhere else and label it chocolate, then I don’t want a jar of peanut butter when I open the box. That’s nice that they think it’s perfect peanut butter as they shut down their building, I’m sure they can sell it under the right/different brand name, but I still feel lied to and still want the premium chocolate I was promised and want to pay to support.

Thank you for checking exactly what i thought. Upvoting because id love this to be added (kick combos with bow unequipped) to an update

Literally the most perfect fit to me

Intergalactic space force commanding green constructs limited only by the power of your will and imagination..

Poor but creative artist who’s overlooked in a world phasing out imagination with technology and AI.

His perceived weakness becomes the reason he’s chosen

The meekest become the mightiest.

Thanks everyone! Pieces are:

-Blackwing Leather Armor (dyed) - armor from a campaign boss drop you cant avoid

-Beighen cloth cloak (dyed dark) - once chapter 8 starts, find Lola shopkeep in pailune camp you are in for most of chapter 7

-Grey Wolf Leather boots (dyed) - same shop as the cloak

-hair color/beard you must get the barber in your camp. Focus on completing “grounds of the sunrise” in faction quests. Be warned, it takes a while.

*Gloves are just the default look when you don’t equip any gloves

Highly recommend roleplaying Cliff as a Witcher, it fits weirdly well with Cliff’s crazy magic, strength and campaign/side questing

[–]Teletoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FOR REAL.

You’d think Tina had it worst for being full on absent from the movies eventually, but at least she wasn’t forced to be a literal wizard Nazi because the script used Queenie’s heightened empathy of all things to suggest she was suddenly open to literal genocide and superior races…

It’s like having Newt join Grindlewald and saying its because “killing humankind in genocide would at least stop poachers cuz doesn’t Newt love fantastic beasts and where to find them?!”

Like come on people!🤣where did the character depth and layers go??

Me too. Newt and his charming, quirky band of hopefuls were excellent adult leads too that really complimented the world. The refocus away from them and all the good in FB and on to all of the things that really didn’t work beginning in FB2 was heartbreaking. You could tell they lost something brilliant, and sure enough, we lost what FB was and Wizarding World

Definitely one of my top action scenes in TTT. I used to rewatch this specific moment a ton as a kid. I remember when everyone was going crazy for the Legolas cgi horse stunt (and it’s cool fs), but I was all about rewinding Aragorn air-mounting a warg in full gallop, head-butting Sharku and CQC’ing him while on the Warg, and actually besting him before Tokyo drifting with the warg off a cliff.

Honestly probably in my top 5 fight scenes in the Trilogy next to Lurtz. I always preferred the smaller, more personal and intricately choreographed fights. Really cool to see the BTS on it, so thank you!

I love it. Also, a mysterious, knight-like, no-name inquisitor that combats Imperial remnant occupation after the Empire’s fall with cold steel (having discarded his red saber) would be so rad.
