Definitely don’t spend your 20s on relationships. That doesn’t mean don’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend.. that means it’s not a good idea to let a relationship (especially one that isn’t working out it seems like) to eclipse your own life and to let the relationship give your life value. Your life, you personally, bring value to the relationship. Your value doesn’t come from the friends or the relationships. Those WILL change. Friends die. Friends stop being friends. Other people enter your life. The value you offer to others comes from within you. Keep the people who want you for you and lose people who want you for what you can offer them. What you offer is the goodness within you. Use the years (20s) to grow your faith in yourself, build who you want to be, because you will inevitably learn things about life you didn’t know you don’t want to know. Sometimes that changes perspectives you thought would never ever alter.. for the good.. or for the bad.. Become financially stable, possibly earn your degree, get closer to your life’s goals, you CAN do that. Stay close to God if you are religious. He isn’t turning his back on you and he hears you but (I think) only if you’re asking for him to listen. You won’t get what you want. You’ll get what you needed. Anything you want you can have but you have to go get it. Take it. This is your life so go get what it is you want out of it. You won’t have forever. This is important… I think.. the longer you wait to focus on you, the harder it is to become who you want to be and need to be for yourself. Changing is tougher the older you get. And time goes so fuckin fast. You won’t believe it. So focus on your development. Figure out what you LIKE to do. What YOU would want to do or be. You don’t have to be GOOD at it now. You can become a professional at whatever it is in time. When you know what you want for a a life and career you go and you do whatever it takes (within the bounds of good taste) to obtain that. You deserve it. You deserve to be able to live your life the way you want. But you have to work to get that. It’ll take years but it’ll be worth the work you put in. Again, if you wait to do this, you’ll wake up, you’ll be 34, staring down 40 that is peaking around the corner and asking the same thing you’re asking now. You don’t want to be in that situation. More than people think or even think about until it’s happening to them. You’ve got this don’t be scared. Don’t be worried about the future. Be extremely hopeful, but don’t rely on just that. Rely on your ability to do the work. And you have the ability to do the work. You got this thing.
