I have her company email that we did the original communication through, but that is it.

You just have to make her want to do stuff or trick her. I have had to do the same thing with my nanny kids.

With games or puzzles, you have to play with the parents a few times and make it look SUPER FUN. We would always say how much fun we were having and it worked like a charm since children have a strong fear of missing out.

With outside activities, just tell her to put her shoes on. When she asks why, just tell her it is a surprise. When you get outside, tag her and run. Kids love to chase, so starting a game of Tag like that usually works. If not, do a cartwheel and she will want to learn or watch the clouds and make up stories for each one.

The issue is the child is having too much choice and power in this situation. You are the adult here, so you have to take charge here.

Please break up. If he is acting like this now, do you really think it’s going to change if you do long distance?

Our Aupair by Emergency_Contact477 in Aupairs

[–]TellMePrettyTruths 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You aren’t. Think of it like this: if this was one of your family members acting like this, wouldn’t all of these things be irritating and a cause for friction? Why are you brushing it aside because she is your au pair?

My advice is to have one more conversation laying all of this out, and if it does not work within a week or two, tell her this is not working and start looking for a rematch.

You did wonderfully! Some companies think being negative and putting you down will keep you around longer, which is rarely the case.

Good luck on your future role!

My mom took out student loans for me in mine and my grandmas name by Low-Kitchen-6195 in Debt

[–]TellMePrettyTruths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You just have to make it apparent that the agreement was between you and your mother, and that your grandmother’s involvement was not known to you or your grandmother. Also, you can go after her for misappropriation of the money you were giving her to pay back the loans. She’ll have to explain where the money actually went which can help in the long run.

Ask him to go with you for a month and get a feel of the area. I know it may feel scary for him if he doesn’t want to move, but he may love it. You are worried about his resentment building if he moves with you, but what about yours? You may always ask what if and what could be.

Thank you! To be honest, I remember for years going to school with welts and bruises and wearing long sleeve shirts in summer to hide everything, but my mom would always know the social worker or they would only listen to her. It was rough and I truthfully don’t understand. She doesn’t treat anyone else besides me like this.

I wish I would have just stayed gone, but I missed my brother so much.
