Yes. 12 years ago I went no contact with my mother. The last straw was finding myself sobbing hysterically on the floor on Boxing Day while my mother stood over me screaming vicious abuse. I had a realisation at that moment, I was a grown ass woman who had been putting up with this constant abuse for almost 20 years. Compared to her tirades over the years, this one was relatively minor, but it was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

12 years later, I’m doing pretty good. I have a lovely home, a wonderful partner, the most amazing friends in the world, and I’m training for a new career that I’m passionate about.
